That's pretty good actually. Mine wasn't all that much cheaper once you chuck in the case and the touchstone. I think all in (TP+case+touchstone) I paid about £200, but that was for 16gb, so is still pretty good considering it's a 32gb effort.

Hopefully Gernot can get one! Can't wait to see my efforts looking good on a tablet. My cheapo Android effort works ok, but seems to currently be showing the game upside down and horizontally when it should be vertically. Grumble...

Plus more importantly it seems the website isn't dying like before. A sure sign that the massive hysteria of the firesale has died down, or possibly that £200 is a little steep for some considering an iPad isn't far off that. Cunning bit of salesmanship that by bunging in the accessories.

Hahaha, amusingly if you choose just the Touchpad then the price goes to £599 :)

I paid just under that for the TP alone (£247 inc P&P). I've got a Touchstone on order and bought a protective jacket for £15. If I had waited, I'd have saved money (about £45). However, there were no guarantees that there would be more stock available, so I made a decision. I don't regret it.

Hmmm, seems a little bit stiff to me, £250, at the end of the day its a defunct product with no long-term support. :doubt:

Yeah, but once Gernot sorts out the problems on it then it will be a brilliant little testing device like the Pre (Pre2 installs and runs faster than a 4G iTouch for me, plus seems to handle lighting better in 3D). Fair enough though it does seem a bit steep for just that compared to the £89 you could get a 16gb one for. Although, like me, you do start then thinking about accessories once you get one.

Plus it's not definitely dead. There are rumours of HP going back on what they said after the firesale sent everyone barmy. And if someone licences it then it could be amazing. Not to mention that because there are limited apps then you get a decent download count. My iOS games didn't do well I admit, and WebOS sold about the same amount (for Pre only). But free versions were about 5 times more in a third of the time. With a decent new market of TP owners then, once Gernot fixes things, then people will be buying apps just because there isn't many around. I personally bought a couple of apps at about £4 each because there was no alternative (had free versions and 59p versions on iOS). My next game has at least 20 games based on the same idea, but I can't find any on WebOS.

Ok, so there is a good chance of it dying completely in another year or two, but there are good reasons to get one. Although at £89-£150 it was a much more acceptable purchase. It's also a really good tablet if it helps.

damn it , if it ships to brasil on that price, I will have to pay 4x it for customs... so it´s a complete no to me :(

Depends if you think it's worth it and if you can afford it.

I personally think it IS worth it. £250 over the course of a year is less than 70p a day. I think that's worth it. If I sell just one app a day for a year, I've made the money back.

Damm, I have to choose... This or an iPad...

I have iPhone4 and Pre2, so I really have one of each...

My wife could kill me...

Get this now, and then if your wife hasn't killed you then get an iPad3 (rumoured Retina) when she has stopped sharpening knives in bed. :)

There is a market - there will be a million Touchpads out there by October. Not a huge market, but there is far less competition for apps. And don't forget you can run Pre apps on the Touchpad too, so you don't even need to create a specific app for the TP. There are countless Pre's/Pre2's/Pre3's out there, adding to the market too.

Yes, it's not iOS market-share, but a market doesn't have to be huge for a developer to be successful, and remember that same app can ALSO be sold for the iOS market AS WELL.

Love the US. QVC also had an identical deal to the UK except it was $199. That's £125. Ie exactly half the price of the uk. Ok mention different taxes etc but that sucks.

Oh and when it comes to ordering from the US it's normally impossible apart from EBay. Or there are massive postage charges. Sucks x2....

Kitty Hello

After another 80,- EUR for tax and customs, I finally have a touchpad.
... without battery, because hte US plug won't fit the socket and my iPad charger has only 1A (needs 2A).

Tonight!

Crivens

Oh yeah the TP is annoying with plugs. Obviously I got a UK one so I have a Euro and a UK adapter with it, but even though the USB plug thingy it comes with is identical to the one for the Pre2 (except the new one has HP on it I think), it only charges the TP and not the Pre (and the Pre one doesn't charge the TP). More annoyingly the TP doesn't get charged at all (not even trickle charge) when plugged into a PC (the Pre2 does).

Waiting on my Touchstone now... Anyone know if this also works with the Pre or do you have to get the specific Pre one?
