I'm not sure Ian , but you have reason whit mobiles and tablets and this things, but I think can be difficult use whit the eyes the pointer, I can imagine don't use the hands over the mouse... well it's true too I never want goes the 3.5 floppy they are very faster  :D :D :D

Moru

There are a number of different penmouses around, just google it :-)

Back to the head-tracking system: This is not for us that has full use of our hands, it's one of the things handicapped people are already using to communicate with.

For that purpose I do agree fully. Sadly, I don´t see the industry adapting to it first as much I think they should.
But heck, we are software developers our owns, we can and should always try to support all human possibilities.

I read Gernot´s idea, it is something that will require a better dev then me.
It is a very interesting concept, and I don´t believe people will have more trouble with their neck then we all get on shoulders, arms and back for too long comp using.

It is a good idea, if anyone is up to the job on coding it, count me up on any help the project may need. :good:

I'm affraid it already exists and is in use by many handicapped people all over the world to communicate. This can be people that cannot speak but can still move the eyes or the whole head. There are devices that read the angle of the eye so it can see where the person is looking on the screen. If person looks long on an icon that means left-click so the person can write on a visual keyboard like you on your iPhone just slower.

I never actually said the future would use your eyes or fingers as pointers instead of a mouse. Those are perhaps the only concepts available to us at the moment, but there may well be alternatives eg mind control or direct brain access or things that we haven't even dreamed of yet... Scary stuff potentially, but who knows. We don't actually know what we don't actually know. You know? ;) :P
I came. I saw. I played.

Moru, I Know those devices exist. But they are quite on the extremely expensive side, and for that our government usually lay a good hand.
But it would be nice to have cheaper or home made and general alternatives.

Ian, that last post scares me a bit...
But seriously, you are right, we work computers with a main pointer (mouse), something that got out of CAD drawing to OSes a long time ago...but they effectively did and terminals became a second thing more for the hardcore power users (as usual).

I hope the future don´t hold dancing and butt shaking to code :P
