I upgraded to lion on my intel2core mini Mac, which also is from 2010 without issue. It took some while.

Here my previous setup did didn't find my 3GS. But not sure which sdk it's was....

There's loads i could do with my Mac - it's plugged into the tv, and it has an external 1TB drive...

Haha, same here. I have a PVR that records to an internal drive and I copy over to the 1TB disk. On the Mac I wrote some program (DDgui) that converts the recordings to mp4, using ffmpeg. Also I shrink some of the movies to put them on the iPad for long journeys.
My wife and the kids use the Mac as a DVD and CD player. I got a mini wireless keyboard for it. My wife is overstrained when it does not work as expected (especially ejecting a disk), but my kid starts to get a grip.
I also copied most CDs into iTunes now, and there's an "Remote" app for iTunes to be controlled by the iPad. That's very handy.

I really hate the way Mac Mini's ejects discs - haiving to use the onscreen option is really at odds with pcs eject buttons. It takes an age too.

I don't envy you have to go the manual route Ocean... :S
I came. I saw. I played.

Currently, I'm really stressed because it doesn't (eject a disk I mean)  :whip:   Tried everything on the net, so I fear I'm going to get intimately acquanted with the Mini's innards real soon now...

Other than the standard hold the mouse button & switch the mac on (while still holding the mouse button down) which I assume you have tried, there is the hold down F12 then switch on or the holding eject then switch on.

Failing that the is the holding down "D" which starts the apple hardware test, do the test & when finished select the shutdown option & it should eject the disk.

Btw, I am not sure if any of the above would work if you have a wireless mouse or keyboard, if so juat plug in any old usb pc/mouse keyboard.

I used to work for a university & being a media department we was mainly Mac based, stuck discs where quite common sadly & only once did any of the above not work. That one got fixed by booting it up in target mode & connecting it to another mac so it appeared as an external drive. Oddly enough the cd appeared on the desktop & was ejected with no problems  :D
