GLBasic vs Monkey post

Has anyone seen this post on the Blitz forums?

It is a good read and it seems that the only major problem with GLBasic (from reading the posts) is the IDE. I think that if 3rd party IDE's could be used with GLBasic, it would see a lot more programmers using it.

I have to agree with Rusty - it would be pretty good if the default IDE was improved or tweaked so third party IDE's could be used.
...oh, and an easier way to compile on OSX too - ie. without having to use Parallels or jump through hoops.

But overall there's no doubt that people thinks it's good. Any many Blitz users seem to have it too, which is cool.  8)

I've grown accustomed to the IDE, it's very easy to pick up and at time quite powerful. The only thing that regularly annoys me is switch between tabs, when you have a lot of source files. You have to use the tab scroller buttons or double click the file name, neither is much fun when jumping between source files a lot. I would like to see multiple tab rows as a sulution

BTW what's good to see in that thread, Esp. considering its a BRL forum is just how many people come to the general conclusion that GLBasic is better than Monkey for cross platform development.

For me the IDE runs very well, not have a lot of things like Eclipse, and better at least for me! , I think little things like Bigsofty says about the Tabs, or can watch 2 source files at the same time (I think this the Eleven can do it)...

Only for tell something, I like to have a Dark theme, similar to the Sumblim Editor 2, or perhaps the posibility to compile for more than 1 platform at the same time (I think this was comment, and seemd it´s a  hard work)

You can do this already!

My latest IDEs were Dark Basic´s original and AMOS...both that looks like a demoscene IDE :P
So I´m really fine with the current one.

@Hi Kanonet,  thanks I never pick this button  =D =D =D :-[ :-[

BUt I say something "more advanced" something, like Split the Screen (over the zone on your pick code), whitout the Windows Mark(it´s a very lazy thing).

Thanks, I hope make works again my secondary monitor, and use this "trick". 24" and 600€ to the crash?¿

You can also split the code window by dragging down the tiny button located directly above the source code frames right scroll bar.

BTW obviously same works for a right/left split too (its the tiny button located directly left to the source code frames right-left-scroll bar).

I did remember it doing it but forgot how, so I did not mention it, well done for reminding me Kanonet.  :good:

The GLB editor is actually quite good once you  tickle its belly a little!  =D

Hi Kano thanks again, I think this method it´s better than upper and lower, for me it´s more clear read.
