Win a free PlayBook - Seriously

The PlayBook now supports Android files.
BlackBerry has a promotion going on, sign and submit an app to AppWorld by Feb 13th - and you get a free PlayBook.
All of this can be done for free with GLBasic :)

How to do this:
1)  Use GLBasic to create an Android App
2)  Package your APK
3)  Use the http://www.blackberry.com/developers link (look under Tablet OS) and download an app signing BAT file
4)  Register for the signing keys
5)  Use the BAT file and signing keys to convert the APK to a signed BAR
6)  Submit the BAR to AppWorld (all of this free)
7)  Once approved, RIM will email you asking for your shipping information.

:)  Oh, and did I mention - that means we can use GLBasic to program for the PlayBook and Android now :D

I make the procces and it´s very easy, now at this same moment I can enter in the developement web part, but I think I have to wait to some verificatión email...

This it´s a good notice, and the prices of the tablets, not are very expensive... the most low level are about 190$, I don´t know if this it´s promotion, becuase upper this price text inidicates about 400 600 o 900$ for the most expensive... I think now are in promotion...

Blackberry accepting Android coded apps is awesome news. Also, chance of winning a PlayBook is a great reason to submit.  =D

Kitty Hello

Does not support native code useage. :(

Wampus

Are you sure? According to this page: https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/tool/ it should be possible to repackage and sign Android apps without additional software (click Online tool)

Gernot is right. C++ is still not supported for android files, hence none glbasic is compatible.

There should exist a real ndk for play book and hence it's could been supported as a new platform a time in the future ;-).

I guess it use a regular android java runtime interpreter?

Sorry folks, I tried a bunch of different ways.  Simple hello world and up.  I am able to go from Glbasic to Android fine.  APK signs and seems OK - didn't have problems there.

But as Kitty surmised, once ported to BAR (PlayBook format) it signs and pushes to the device but only shows a black screen.

If you can punch out a Java based Android APK you can still score the free PB.  They are for sale overs here for 199 anyway so don't kill yourself trying :)

Its should not been impossible to add playbook somewhere in the future, but not that fast to the deadline. Its have a c++ nsk, so its should been pretty easy to port to it. That would still been better to java based android apps since native code is allways faster to execute them.

So another platform candidate ;-D, hehe.

I've got my free PlayBook in a similar promotion. Had to develop or port a game to Adobe Air. I've got mine in May 2011, but the VAT was a bit high.
It's a nice tablet, but I'm not using too much. Anyhow as I'm a registered developer already, and I have a device, I will try to test this process to package an Android app compiled with glBasic, and I will let you all know if it's works or not.

EDIT: Oh I see, that you already figured it out. That bad news :(

I think the OS 2.0 will support NDK, judging from this post
http://crackberry.com/playbook-os-20-developer-beta-available-today

The playbook has been reduced in price in the US and UK
$199/ £169 for the 16 GB
Android: Samsung Galaxy S2 -  ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) - Ainol Novo 7 Aurora 2
IOS: 2 x Ipod Touch (1G)
