I agree: The Pandora is the more desirable handheld for me too.

hello all,

actually i have to concur the Pandora is a way more interesting  prospect as a handheld for me to   ide never heard of  glbasic  until someone  mentioned it in the Pandora  forums as a possible rapid prototype  platform  ,   (ive used blitz before   but  doesn't look like that's going to be an option for the pandora) and im not  that great  with anything other than graphics  related   in c++    :> and i know next to nuthing  of linux and  i figered this  might be a decent way to get my feet wet.

so 2 quick questions for glbasic natives  ?

is their any official word  or   or is  it just speculation on the dev's good will ?

and  how does  glbasic compare  to blitz  for anyone familiar with  it. ?

thanks for any   info ...

I use GLBasic and BlitzMax as my languages of choice, with long term experience with BlitzBasic too. I've also got experience with Cobra, PlayBasic and Div to name but a few. I don;t use the latter three anymore...

GLBasic compares more than favourably with BlitzBasic - GLB offers more, the language is easier to use and it's faster in many areas and offers 3D on top, together with the power of hardware accelerated graphics and effects.

It doesn't offer quite the same power as BlitzMax however, and I find a lot of things easier/quicker to implement in Max than GLBasic.

However GLBasic has 3D - Max doesn't. The language is easier than Max and it's even more cross-platform (without the need to use the specific machines for compiling), plus GLBasic offers GP2X and soon Wiz and Pandora compilation.

Indeed, I was a long time Blitz Basic follower. And in my time of need GLB was here for me. So in my opinion if you enjoyed Blitz and are pretty used to it, switching to GLB will be easy and awesome.
