Do midi files play back on the Nook?. If you used them at a low volume then there is at least a subtle bit of background music playing. Midi playback varies a lot depending on the wavetable sample set provided by the platform/audio hardware, some sound great while others not so, but as background music the quality does not really come into it at a lowish volume.

Just a thought & might be worth a try.
