Getting OGG files to play in Mac OS X

I seem to be having trouble getting OGG files to play in MacOS X. I've added support for OGG in iTunes. That is working but when I launch a GLBasic app that plays OGG files nothing happens. For example, I'll get this kind of output in terminal:-

Loading Music: music.ogg
Error opening file: 1954115647
Error opening file: 1954115647
Error getting file data info: 1954115647
Status: 1954115647

Apparently the above probably means Mac OS doesn't support OGG despite the installation of iTunes drivers. Anyone know of a way around this?
