Those of you who practice the art know that there has always been a purist x modernist fight on the ways of it.
I´m in no way a purist on anything, and if I can 3d render pixel art in a way it looks legit in less time and more control, then I´m happy. ;)

Really I think Pixel Art it's really really tedious work, and more in this days on you have bigger graphics with more colors, in Spectrum not too much problem  :D :D :D.

The only way I think I can do Pixel art it's make the model in 3D and after pass some filter in PS or After Effects, I'm sure in After FX have to be some plugin for make pixel art very very good...

hehe 3d also works, but the processes described there makes it really easy to paint in photoshop with a great pixel art look.

I have a little system going that is serving well so far... I am not a user of photoshop but I find fireworks 8 to be excellent for it.

I've done that too; in fact, the game I'm working on now draws the whole level procedurally via code only, although it does then plonk a couple of sprites on top.
