Well I don't know if I can put this here... at this moment I think not it's ilegal, and can't be illegal, now it's do it whit all the permissions and legal base for working... really will be the same than before, but now , I read nobody and government can do something if don't change the laws... (and this cost a bit of money)

At least how personal Cloud, can be nice... totally full protected and I think don't have limit for Upload Files...!!! , perhpas in some months the servers are burning "Casualy"....  =D

erico

That looks like sendspace or we transfer.
I will check, hope they can hold a good upload speed.

mentalthink

Well I think this will be again Megaupload... for Upload I don't try nothing... but I suposse when this begin to works seriusly, into here will be all the internet...

erico

ooh now I see. ;/ hehe

MrTAToad

Upload speed is very, very slow unfortunately... A very large file (6GB) would take 12 hours...

mentalthink

I suposse this change in a near future now it's a Beta... I think we have to leave to pass the time... if before the service was paying and runs very fine (I never use, I use another things), perhaps in sometime this will be very very good cloud Service...

MrTAToad

As long as uploads are quicker, it could be very popular - however, until then, things like Dropbox are the prefered storage type (even though you dont get much space :( )

Wampus

Looks kinda good, though I'm happy with the cloud back up service I already use.

Currently it has some major security issues, sorry just a german link: http://www.heise.de/security/artikel/Mega-Facts-1789018.html

Btw. i dont understand that stupid 'cloud' thing, why in hell should i want to upload my personal data to some company's servers? Store it local (preferably on a pc without internet connection) is the better way to keep it save. And yes, security very often means a tiny bit less comfort. But maybe many people have forgotten this in times of facebook, cloud, etc...

In average, by the time one DVD is uploaded, fifty are burnt locally.

I agree, cloud for me is just a cheesy market name. I guess most people use such to host pictures from their phone for facebook or similar.

I have a use for services like sendspace to transport temporary big files as it still can´t go by email.
Clients can´t socket transfer and I can´t bother making an FTP that 99% of market people have no idea how to use.

Wampus

To be fair its more than a tiny bit less comfort to go without cloud storage. For example, to have everything important continuously backed up while you work, synchronised with people and devices you need to share it with and fully recoverable as older copies via versioning is enormously helpful. I mean, my data is far more to valuable to me that way than so secure it becomes hard to access. Some of us need to get things done, you know!

MrTAToad

It should be noted that online data in America may be looked at using secret court orders : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21263321

Thank you for this, sir! ::)

But why should it now not work the same way like it did in the last years? Syncing data locally is fine for a private user, but its no problem to have your own 'server' and storing your data there, you can even autosync and versioning your data this way, connect with a VPN to it. Its what thousands of companys and several privates have done over decades now, but it is not possible any more, it is necessary to throw all your data inside a big machine now? They just labelled a new name on an old technique and took all your data out of your control, this should be an improvement? Ok, its not my problem, maybe I should stop here. ;)
