Well, I follow the basic programmer rule : If there is a program to make something easy and quick, use it

I use Xtranormal State animation package which is essentially free, until you want to add various characters/backgrounds or sounds and then you have to pay.

Its not bad, but it does tend to crash after a bit of use - I've finally got them to admit there are memory problems with it today
