I wholeheartedly agree. My best mate was a C64 owner and many a time he wished that the music was the same as the CPC on certain C64 games - Nebulus and Cybernoid are two examples he worshipped.

Don't get me wrong, some SID stuff is ace, but for the most part, I find many too shrill and tinny to enjoy.

That AY/YM soundchip was very capable and I have many fond memories of excellent music on the CPC.

I loved the AY/YM chip on my Speccy 128 and Atari ST and also have fond memories of the Jeroen Tel music that was produced for this humble little sound chip but I have to admit, when I had my speccy I was jealous of SID and when I had my ST I was jealous of Paula lol =)
