Converting From BlitzBasic To GL Basic

Hi everyone. I'm new here and I am trying to convert a BlitzBasic program to GLBasic. I want to compare the two languages so that I can decide which I want to purchase. The program I am converting has for the most part been an easy job. The problem I am having is locating a conversion for SHL (Shift Left) and SHR (Shift Right) and XOR. I cannot find these commands in the manual. I may be overlooking these commands. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks   =D

Hello!

Commands you are looking for:
ASL(), ASR()
bXOR
I don't know if the shift commands behave as you are used to. Shift is not rotate, right?

Thanks Moru that did the job. I tested with ASL, ASR and bXOR and everything worked as I hoped. I am going to write an example program tomorrow then I will upload the 28 Blend Functions Library for all to use.   :good:

GLBasic is updated far more often then BlitzMax, you'll be pleased to hear.

Thanks MrTAToad, I think I have made up my mind and will be going with GLBasic. It is in fact from what I've seen updated a lot more than Blitz. Thanks for everyone's help and I will be switching to GLBasic.   =D

Welcome to the club.  There's more than a few ex-Blitz users here actually (or at least working at becoming ex-Blitz users). :)

Yes it's updated far more often with new features as well as bug fixes.  Also if you get stuck the community here is very friendly and will do its best to help you without some of the name calling or belittling I've seen in places like the Blitz Forums (or worse) the DB forums.  'Kitty Hello' also listens to his customers, answers their questions promptly, as well as asking the people that use his product questions with regards to future changes or updates ie. doesn't just change things and expect you to live with it.

There is one thing to remember though (although I honestly don't know how he fits all of it in -- I suspect cloning to be honest) he's a family man with a job, so although updates are extremely common and bug fixes quick, GLB isn't his life but sort of a passion on the side.

For someone who was so totally negative towards GLB a couple of years ago, my opinion has changed a lot and quite frankly couldn't be higher about it or the guy behind it (either that or it's the things I'm currently on for my flu talking   J/K!).  Quite a relief really, I got sick of trawling my way through a lot of packages (that now gather dust on backup disks) trying to find what I wanted.  Hopefully it turns out to be what you've been looking for too.

Thanks Hatonastick. I've seen right away that the folks here at this forum are far more helpful than any where I've been. I appreciate the fast responses to questions. I really like what I've seen in GLBasic and here on the forums. You'll be seeing a lot more of me here, probably with more questions as I am learning. Again, thanks to all.   :good:

Hi

I am from the "blitz" world and have been using GLBASIC for about a month now. I am totally happy with the product and the developer.  :good: :good: :good:

I'm an ex-BlitzBasic user too - I still use BlitzMax from time to time, but the majority of my stuff is done in GLBasic now - especially since it supports GP2X and Wiz, seeing as they support my fave resolution :P

Just think - no more weird MAV errors :D
I came. I saw. I played.

Haha, me too. Blitz was the first language I learned. I strayed away for a while, came back. And then found GLBasic, I think it is superior in many ways. GP32x was my source for GP2X news and this came up there once so I tryed it and have been able to rest easy ever since. :bed:
