Title: Pixel art.
Post by: erico on 2014-Apr-22
Those of you who practice the art know that there has always been a purist x modernist fight on the ways of it.
I´m in no way a purist on anything, and if I can 3d render pixel art in a way it looks legit in less time and more control, then I´m happy. ;)

Check out these two articles, hope it adds up to you all:

Really I think Pixel Art it's really really tedious work, and more in this days on you have bigger graphics with more colors, in Spectrum not too much problem  :D :D :D.

The only way I think I can do Pixel art it's make the model in 3D and after pass some filter in PS or After Effects, I'm sure in After FX have to be some plugin for make pixel art very very good...

hehe 3d also works, but the processes described there makes it really easy to paint in photoshop with a great pixel art look.

You both semi purists! Proper pixel art can only be done in code...with arrays and data!

I've done that too; in fact, the game I'm working on now draws the whole level procedurally via code only, although it does then plonk a couple of sprites on top.
