Looking really nice!
Bosses?
Noted!
I like bosses at the end of levels...
Very nice-looking. Well done. :)
Yes very very nice looking!!! I think if you make the game a little more easy than the Arcade this will be very very cool!!!
I love the graphics very simpliest but so nice...
Perhpas for not make too much repetitive like the arcade the screen, you can add some background, take a planet image and pass a filter of 8 bits... basicaly it's pixelize the image.
I want and I like see the game working... :good: :good:
Hi mental think, the zip file has working demo!
Download, extract and run!
Very cool. Sounds are impressive. I gather its intended for mobile devices because of the instructions at the beginning.

I missed it, will look into it...
Yes, i am hoping to put on mobile .. initally thought about direct remake but think its been done... so I think a variation on it, with some cool new aliens might be in order...
;-)
AS long as it has authentic Galaxian music and sfx I'll be a happy bunny. In fact, I might just write a Galaxian sounboard app right now ;) :P
Looking good, and will be more than happy to give this a go once -
a) it's done
b) I get some time
c) I win the lottery so that b)
:D
:nw: :nw: Really Really nice, but sincerelly it's very very difficult, at least for me... it's very very quick the game..
Graphically it's very very cool, I only can say about the graphics, if you can add a little animation, I'm not sure if the arcade have the enemies with animation or not..,
Try to put in some RetroComputing forum, I'm sure the people enjoy a lot with this game...
I like a lot, but too much quick.

for me too :'(
we are too old mentalthink
mentalthink + snoopy = :help: :D
very nice retro game :good:
Yes Snoppy but after :booze: :booze: :booze: :booze: :booze: :booze: :booze: and again :help: :help:
Really I'm very old for 3D games and quick games. :D
:D :D :D :D
I have slowed up the gameplay a bit and reduced firing and improved dive seq.
Also just added some animation for aliens
Will add a new zip of demo over next day or so...
Perfect Mr.Plow a really hardest point are the bullets, sometimes a lot of them and very very quikly... and the little animation on the sprites sure will be more nice.
I test again!!! :good:
Guys,
I have uploaded a new version of the Game to playtest... (see 1st post with zip attachment)
Appreciate any feedback....
MrPlow
Very good!!! now really it's playable, now it's more fun!!! perhaps a bit more quick the shot of the player, but if the arcade have this speed... The sound when some enemy explodes and the points appears are really really 8 bits... very cool this little detail.
I like a lot the movement of the enemies and the patterns of them attack the player.
Now I look too much better than the previous versión... :nw: :good:
Thanks mentalthink!
I appreciate you trying it out...and hope it enjoyable enough...
I am hoping to get it finished and release before xmas...
This is coming along nicely. The updated enemy movement is much better.
You're probably aware of this, but sometimes when a new wave of enemies come down for the start of the level the game stops there, with no control over the player character and no movement from the enemies.
This Extrange Wampus for me don't happends nothing extrange...
MrPlow ok, perfect when you finish comment for buy... :good:
Thanks wampus,
Thought I had that bug sorted but its a small maths error which cause a continuous loop. Will sort that out asap.
Glad u like it, I am delighted with new enemy movement and the convoy shot dodge
That plays really nicely and, like the original, puts up a good challenge.
I'd rather the game was larger though - the aliens and bullets are a bit small - would it be possible to double screen resolution and give a more retro, arcade look to the game? Optional scanlines could be a good look too :)
Thanks Ian,
I like those suggestions !
I am hoping a mobile version up soon too.
Ian,
I have added your suggestions in the new zip!
Enjoy!!
Cool. I'll have a play tomorrow and give feedback :)
Nice the effect like a CRT monitor it's good... I only find a point the game fault... the music I never listen before, because I put the mac without audio, but when you are playing 3 min, the musin it's anonnyng...
I only see bad this point the music it's very repetitive... If you don't know in somepaces on internet sell music at 1 euro or minus, perhaps you can find chiptune Music for this money...
Yeah, I dont like the music myself and took it out of my most recent version...
Sorry did you say mac so does my .exe file work on mac too?? Or U using VM?
No MrPlow I use a MacMini but with VM , Parallels Desktops, it's the best for develop with GLbasic...
But sure if you compile for mac works without problem...
I'm not sure but perhaps inWine the .exe works, the Ide don't do it, but the .exe created with GLBasic, I think anyone test this point..
Did you use the scanlines effect I posted in 2Dsnippets I think it was?
If so glad someone has made some use of it :good:
Lee
Hi Fuzzy,
I actually did that from scratch but I will defo look to see if your polyvector mem2sprite method is faster...
My method was very simple but might have performance issues on smartphones...
Thks!!
BTW did u try my demo...?
The one I posted should be pretty rapid as all it draws is a single polyvector, the MEM2SPRITE part is only called once at the start to create the sprite. I have not tested it on mobiles though.
Yes I have tried your game & it's coming on very nicely. If I did have to say any criticisms it would be the smoothness of the aliens when they swoop down. Best way I can describe it is it's not a smooth curve with say a constant speed or acceleration factor as sometimes they appear to do a sharp turn then continue on as before. Not sure if that made sense in writing lol, if not will draw a couple of pics & post them when back home as that will be clearer.
One problem I did have but that may be down to my pc doing something else is that a couple of times I was unable to move my ship but I could still fire, also the ship just carried on moving to the right. Both occasions lasted about 1 or 2 seconds but I think that was due to my pc doing something else in the background as noticed my mouse pointer was jerky & lagging briefly.
Keep up the good work though & as a thought seeing as its coming up to Xmas soon you could do seasonal gfx like Santa as the main meany at the top with the others being helpers & reindeer.

Thanks Lee
I will look into the curve speed issue!
I may even add a switch for the Xmas Gfx
:-)
Thats quite good - I like the gfx and the scanline effects, very arcadey. The aliens seem to "stutter" about halfway down on an attack though.
Interested in how youre doing the curving attacks - sinewave style calcs, bezier curves or a different approach? Only asking as Im playing about with coding a version of this as well and havent come across a method Im entirely happy with yet. It would be interesting to get another perspective on it.
Hi Kyrpten,
Yes, bezier but was using sin wave too I need to tweak mine too, your the second person who commented on my sharp turns... lol!
I'm no maths guru but the basics are here...and you extend by adding more points...and maybe feed into a function.
LOCAL q1 = x1+(x2-x1)*tme
LOCAL q2 = y1+(y2-y1)*tme
LOCAL x = q1+(q2-q1)*tme
LOCAL y = q1+(q2-q1)*tme
Thanks for the input - Im playing with beziers at the moment :-)
