Title: which modelers work with glbasic
Post by: williac on 2007-May-23
I have used several modelers in the past.  My favorite is a modeler called Anim8tor.

GLBasics model converter will not load a 3ds model created with anim8tor.

I was wondering what modelers other people used that are compatible with glbasic's 3d converter.

Oh!? Many people do use Anim8or. If not, please upload the file you created to let me have a look at it. There's also excellent plugins in your plugin directory for exporting from AC3D and Blender.
There's also a Blender tutorial in the tut section, that explains how to use Blender, since many people fear its complexity at the first glance. It's, however, a very easy and greatly useable tool that's totally free!

I have used blender in the past.  I was able to work with it eventually but I always come back to anim8tor.  It was the first 3d modeler I used and is still my favorite.

here is the 3ds file

Thanks for your help

williac: if it is any condolence, for several months, I have been trying to figure out how to get animated .b3d models converted so they could be used with GLBasic.  I can't model at all, and all the models I have bought in the past are in .b3d format.

It doesnt seem to work with any of them?!?

Im afraid it might be smarter than I am.

Brice Manuel: thanks for the condolences.

Fixed in next update. So far drag/drop the file on the program GLBasic\Tools\3DS_to_DDD.exe.
It worked here.

thanks for the response I would have replied sooner but I have been unable to view the forum for awhile.  When I tried to it took me to a page displaying a error message instead.

anyway I got it to work, except I had to drop it on the md2 to ddd instead.  the 3ds to ddd doesn't work for me.
