Title: Can´t connect to GLB site and forum
Post by: erico on 2012-May-10
Hi guys, as of today I can´t seem to connect to either at all.

By using a proxy, I can, that is how I´m here now  :o

So it seems it is a problem with my ISP, what are you experiences with such things? Any recommended solution?

Do you get an "It works!" message?

If so, please help me fix it! It's the message you get when you type http:// (the ip address)

What happens when you type "ping www.glbasic.com" in the commandprompt?

We had troubles accessing german pages earlier this week but that seems sorted now. GLBasic worked fine though :-)

when I ping it, be it by my connection or a proxy, I get:

Ping request could not find host www.glbasic.com. Please check the name and try
again.

Try rebooting your router if you have one. Failing that, change to some other DNS server. Try googles DNS server on 8.8.8.8

That is certainly weird, although it does happen (with a different message to my site too).  Someone from cPanel suggested :

Please ensure that the IP address assigned to this account matches the IP address this domain name points to at it's DNS provider. If the IP addresses do not match, it can result in the default cPanel address appearing. Also, you can try rebuilding the Apache configuration file via:

Code:
# /scripts/rebuildhttpdconf

or

It looks like it was determined that your NAT configuration was the cause of this problem. While we do not support a NAT configuration, some users have success using this type of setup.

Sounds like a firewall problem.

Another thing to try is clear your DNS cache, incase its corrupt.

From a command prompt, type "ipconfig /flushdns" and then "ipconfig /registerdns".

Hey Moru, the google DNS works fine too.

The rebooting things I have done to everything ever since it didn´t work, primary choice uh? :P
As for firewall, mine is always off.

Having a word with my ISP, they said the problem is theirs.

One excuse was that after the megavideo stuff they are still routing things...
I better lay no comment on that here...

It all began a few days ago and I have access to different internet providers, so it does work on some places, but not mine.
They said they will take action into it within the next 24h.

I hope this all helps somehow, it has been a great-but sad-experience into figuring out this trouble.
And it seems like those "100% will fix or none at all" situation till I change providers.
I am in brasil anyways, just a couple companies run this things but spread into multiple brands.
I will let you know how things resolve on my end.
:(

Kitty and Moru, should anything happens in a similar way, you can always count me in on helping it out, just pm/email me.

It's also the message I got before I turned off ipv6 on my laptop. And I can't access www.glbasic.com on my girlfriend's laptop by the way, same message. I assume she has ipv6 turned on by default. I just typed in "www.glbasic.com". So that's my guess, something with ipv6. Sorry, can't be much clearer. All I know is once I disabled it, I could access the forum again.

Problem is resolved here, now it all works fine without a proxy or DNS. :good:
They actually fixed it... almost unbelievable!

haven´t tried to connect with ipv6 only yet, will try that out later.

Tried the ipv6, it dosen´t even connect to the internet if I leave that as an only option...:(
Am I doing something wrong here?

I start to think that changing providers to a fiber optic one was a bad deal here.
GLBasic works on them now after my complains but there are many other sites I can´t reach and it will suck to let them know each.
As usual, a proxy can resolve but speeds get down to a phone modem line kind of stuff.

Well, at least the second half of this country now is able to get to glbasic, other urls will suffer.

You understand (specially the Spanish people around here) that Telefonica is running the service, so it´s expected to be a bad service.
Last time I called them and requested a recording of deals they sold me and are not fullfilling they denied it(which is a law obligation kind of thing) and told me to go to the police and get a warrant to resolve things, that is what their workers are instructed to tell you, how nice.

I can still resolve things with Anatel by placing a complaing and list all this absurds, but now I have to think hard about this.
It pisses me off to no end that services are telling me where I may go on the internet, I certainly miss the 1996 era of the internet.

rant off.

I actually couldn't access the forum for a couple days there either.. seemed DNS related since the rest of my connection seemed ok. Not sure what was up.. started working again yesterday anyway..
