Just came across this news item:
Remake the classic Pong in an original way to win $50.000 (http://www.atari.com/pongdeveloperchallenge)
Entry period ends 15 april 2012, a playable app must be ready by 6 july 2012. I don't think I'll enter, but anyone here feeling up to it? It is kind of weird though, because of Atari's cease-and-desist attitude against any Pong clones (http://www.glbasic.com/forum/index.php?topic=6943.0).

Someone did write a GLBasic version - they should enter it :)

US citizens only?   ;/   Hope you're from the country of plenty.....

So, its kind of like competing for a contract to work on a game for Atari, except you'll have no way to know you've got the contract until the work is already long over.
I've discovered a new found dislike of Atari.  :(

50k$ is not quite the standard of game-buy-out is it?
I took it costs about 125-250k$ to produce an average game from scratch based on someone else“s IP and have it buy out?
Only for US? sucks totally, I will kindly remember that if I ever come across a game from atari selling around here...
But I think it would be fun to participate, I have a few ideas.
I hope someone around the board picks it up.
