Title: Android handheld consoles
Post by: Ian Price on 2011-Dec-03

I'm drooling here. This is what Android was designed for - forget phones etc. :P

Looks very like a black-market PSP :)

Indeed, but it's already better than PSP as we can code for it! ') =D

Fast response BTW!

I'm a lean, mean, posting machine :)

Less of the mean - you've given way too much help, support and assistance to me and the community to be considered mean. =D

Ok now that's the sort of Android device I'd program for, forget these phones (I really don't like mine) and tablets.

But its 250 $, right? That's not really super cheap, is it?

No, but I would expect the price to come down rapidly, especially when competitors start appearing.

However, you also have to remember that the high cost of the machine is offset by the low cost of the software.

this one site mentalthink posted on a double thread has a price:

125$ , seems like a good price to me.

Very impressive. Alternatively, if you already have a fast Android device getting a clip-on like iControlPad and buying a few emulators would give you the same capabilities.

How does Android market work with multiple devices? If I have for example both a phone and console, can I use same apps on both devices?
This stuff is extremely tempting, as Android seems to be the best emu platform besides Windows.

Wow, just realized this thing has HDMI video out. Bluetooth gamepad + this thingy = awesome.

yep it´s a nice piece, I´m really tempted too.
Also, would be nice if its spec becomes something like a default for android.

Now it won´t be long for them to come up with tablet sizes consoles right?

800x480 screens seem to be in vogue. Hopefully that will indeed became a gaming standard for Android handhelds (and others).

I have been hearing mixed opinions about these late consoles.
120$ seems quite nice though.

But better check around the internet for experiences from users on those consoles.
But it´s tempting :good:

I can't try. My postal adress seems to be on some sort of red list for the customs. I have problems even with $6 wrist watches from HK.

The YINLIPS YDPG18 is a nice console hardware-wise, but should pirated Android games really be the standard?

The good things are not the $6 watches, but the $5 remote controlled cars where you can get 5 of them for 25$ shipped free and can set the living room for an ´edited´ track made of shoes and books and whatever ramps and race your friends with a couple boxes of beers :booze: ;)

edit: the slightly more expensive remote controlled helicopters may be a choice too!:)
