Hehe, I just dropped in, about to write the same thread!  =D

I'm building a new desktop PC this week, Battlefield3 is in the mail,  Voxatron is out, goodbye RealLife!

YAY! :D Got it.
It crashed once but other than that it plays very well.
The voxel engine is somewhat demanding, since most of it runs off CPU.
The adventure mode is still quite short (just about 45min to finish it, and I am bad at twitch games).
Still, this is just 0.1.3 so there's a lot of road to travel yet.

I've always loved the look of this game, will probably get it later on though.

Just got it and look forward to playing it later.

Played it a bit.

Graphics are amazing, voxels work 100%, style is perfect!

And synth music/sfx is absolutely fantastic!

I only have trouble with the controls. Maybe dual analog gamepad or visible mouse crosshair would be a better option.

So, who's going to make the GLB version?  =D

Voxel engines/games are very interesting to me and something I've been trying for the last weeks, but so far I've only managed to fake them building 3D objects made out of cubes (http://i.imgur.com/z3ab8.png). :P The effect is cute, but the malleability of the world just isn't there.

Yes, I must admit I've had an interest in them for a long time myself but every time I look into how Voxels work I go cross-eyed and that's about as far as I get.  Maths never was my strong point.  I might look into it again one day.  I have a vague idea as to how I'd approach it if I used 3D, I'll have to have a play and see if it's viable -- my method would involve vertex coloring and mesh manipulation (and likely to be as slow as heck, much slower the real voxels).

Cute picture btw. :)

I bought it yesterday and it really is very nice. I love those graphics.
And it runs nicely on my antique computer too, which is a plus. :)

In the future I'd love to do a voxel game too.

Instead of vertex colouring, you could have a palette sprite to pick colours from dynamically when creating the mesh.
But still, the mesh manipulation part could be slow. (especially for effects like explosions / particles, etc!)

got it yesterday too.

the adventure/game part is quite short yet
40min to get to the end, only some 3 screens produced some challenge.
control scheme used was WASD + numeric keyboard for shooting.
I would enjoy a key to rotate the world every 90 degrees. Some areas are behind and present hard access.
The player´s shadow should also be stronger in general so you get the idea os position while jumping...
The music just rocks, almost impossible to turn off.

add 2 players mode and this has the potential to become something really awesome!

ps: games on filmation like batman or knightlore strongly comes to mind while playing this one!

Yeah probably better to look into real voxels.  Pity.  My maths-fu is definitely not strong enough.

Edit: Hey, just these few posts from the guy behind Voxatron are extremely illuminating.

I checked the Humble Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com/) website and saw the sales have reached half a million dollars so far. Holy cow!

yep this will reach between 500 to 1m easy.
Quite nice.
I have been playing the arena type game too, difficult.
Now the music, I can´t tire mentioning it, is awesome.
back on the guys page he has a link for mp3 and mod version.

he said he did it on milky tracker, I usually use madtracker,
but since milkytracker has a caanoo version, I´m slowly moving to that! ;)

it´s also said I can connect a midi usb keyboard on the caanoo and rock it.
I will borrow a friends one to give a try.

So...when will someone put a glbasic game there on the humble? If no one wants I might attempt it! :P

I'm stuck at the level with the big flying dragon - can you give my any hints on how to defeat it...it's whipping my ass. :D
...it that the final level, btw?

The dragon can´t make sharp turns, when he attacks you can position yourself so he circles you.
It seems to have 2 moods, 1 flying normally above ground level(jump and shoot), 2 chasing you and destroying things on its path(open mouth).

Give a try on the arcade mode.
I also checked some user´s levels, some are really nice.
