This is more likely due to the compression value in the Jpeg routine, but as you can see the colours when a picture is saved in Jpeg and PNG formats, the colouring of the Jpeg is slightly inaccurate...

Yeah, I saw something similar a while back when automatically resizing images for different resolutions. JPG never worked properly when saved whereas PNG works fine.
