I've just upgraded my browser to FireFox 5 (having used FF for years) and noticed that the forum reply box (what I'm typing in right now) goes on forever!
Has anyone else noticed this? If you've just upgraded too, try it out. You can have hundreds of characters on a line without it carriage-returning, or being able to see what you're typing. Like now. I can't tell if there are spelling mistakes or errors, as this line is completely off of the screen and about a mile down the road.
:S
That happens for me too, at work, but I thought I was using FF4, but it may have updated to FF5 automatically.
For me it started about a week ago...or so.
It's been like that in IE6 at work for me for a long time, but I only noticed at home today - I upgraded FF yesterday.
So is it FF or is it the forums?
IE9 is fine
just upgraded to ff5 and the reply box is the same size as IE9 and wordwrap works fine. I have noticed there is a size icon in the corner of the text box that can be dragged up and down but no other problems
no resize in bottom right corner with opera but has the normal one at the bottom of the text box
Chrome wraps fine and has the same resize corner and the resize at the bottoms.
Very strange though that others are having problems. Do you have any plug ins like a spell checker?
Now I'm beginning to doubt where the problem was. I just know it started happening in the browser that I was normally using, so I had to switch to the other...but perhaps I'm mixing the FF/IE order up.
I'll have to check on monday.
Here's a screenie.
There doesn't appear to be any resize option that I can get to/see, other than to alter height of reply box.

my version of FF5 shows the attached.
What plug ins do you have? I notice your tabs are next to the orange firefox where mine are bigger and underneath.

I have only JAVA, Shockwave, SilverLight, Unity Player and Windows Genuine Advantage plug-ins enabled. I would have Google Toolbar, but that doesn't work with FF5.
The look of FireFox is optional, so the tabs are placed there, rather than below - gives me more screen real-estate. They don't make any difference.
My FF5 is fine too. Strange problem, have you tried safe mode("Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled")?
Do others have wide-screen monitors? I do. Maybe FF is getting the res mixed up a bit?
[EDIT] Restarting with all Plug-ins disabled makes no difference, so it's not those.
My FF5 on wide screen works fine :|
Here's a screenie from IE6 (I'm at work). As you can see the word wrap is still problematic, but not as bad as FF5 on my lappy.

I have tried FF5, Opera 11.50, IE 6 and 7 and no problems with the textfield in any of them. Do you have some adware installed mabe? Or is your ISP trying to fool around with html to insert ads? :-)
wide screen on my monitor so its not that
also am I the only one that misreads FF5 as meaning something else?
I have no adware and my work and home computers don;t use the same ISP, browser or specs.
It's an odd'un.
I'm beginning to think FF5 is EXACTLY what you think it is! :P
