I have been contacted by http://www.kaoslords.com/ to port my (non-finished) game KRAKOUT RELOADED to AmigaOS. They said they plan to port&sell games to AmigaOS, and "if your game is in C++ we could port it easily", or so they said as "current AmigaOS runs on a PPC motherboard"
I have told them to contact Gernot and perhaps he can make GLBasic to compile for AmigaOS.
I am really amazed that this thing (still) exists, but as a former Amiga owner/user/coder, it has made me very happy.
AmigaOS motherboard are made by http://www.acube-systems.biz/ and AmigaOS is done by http://www.hyperion-entertainment.biz/
Gernot? :nw: :nw: :whip: :enc:
The "new" Amiga is a very niche product - I'm surprised they haven't gone out of business years ago...
To be honest, I wouldn't bother...
I agree with MrTAToad. The Amiga was a wonderful machine at the time, but that was 20+ years ago. Amiga ownders really should move on.
If they want the game so badly, I suggest you ask them for an upfront payment and then give them all resources and source code for them to port it themselves. If they know C++, poting from GLBasic shouldn't be too tricky. I suspect the amount you get will be on par with the amount you'd get if you did all the hard work yourself - nothing.
One thing though - do you have th rights to sell the game? The IP, name and music belong to others. Only the graphics and code itself are yours.
Agree with both, even though I like the amiga a lot, it has been dead for a long time.
And people moved on already...
I still run an emulator here with a copy of my old a4000 kickstart and an image of it´s hard drive...
some of my more successful games are in there, with amos code and all
Awwwww the good old days. Amos, blitz and deluxe paint. Wowzers
He have got all permissions to use the music about krakout, as he allready been said in retroremakes (if remember correct), so that nice. Then I guess he also got permission too for name etc, so I can't see a problem here as long permissions is granted and eventuelly paid.
Anyway I do think Amiga OS4 is a niche product at all. I do guess the new one is OpenGL and C++ supported, so its should been very easy to port that. GlBasic do compile to C++ first, so its have a change, if they known C++. So the c++ sourcecode could eventuelly give a go, if you have all permissions required, which I guess you have.
Today I do prefer the mobile market such of Symbian as well MeeGo as a new OS to support after Android is finished. This is just personally about this.

He may have permission to use/sell them himself, but not necessarily to sell on those rights. He needs to check that out.
As for the Amiga, I did love it. I don't regret selling mine at all though (I spent many a happy year using AMOS and playing Lemmings and Aline Breed et al. Sometimes I load up my Amiga emu, but not very often. There are too many better machines and games available now and so little time to play any of them.
The Amiga was a real pain to program for - I did use BlitzBasic for it, but it was rather... buggy...
When Commodore went bust, I sold my A600 and brought an Archimedes... :offtopic:
Anyhoo - if you really want to go down the Amiga route, as Ian mentioned, see if they would be willing to do the conversion for you, and perhaps you could get some of the profits (if any).
If contracted to Kaoslords, would the game still appear as an iPhone app?
I was an avid Amiga programmer and worked with François Lionet on the development team of Amos Professional. A great computer in its time but I think the Amiga should now be allowed to rest in peace to save spoiling the memory of how good it was.
At the moment I am doing the opposite to ampos by re-writing and updating some of my old Amiga Licence-ware using GLBasic.
I loved AMOS Professional (together with Easy AMOS and AMOS Compiler). They were such a great products and I spent many a happy hour with them, so thankyou (and François et al).
Amiga stuff now being re-written with GLB? Do tell! =D
Yes, me to! Although it's been a while, there are fond memories of using Easy AMOS & AMOS.
It would be a very interesting thing!
I've switched the engines of my Amiga 500 and 1200 =D
