Title: WebOS paying system
Post by: ampos on 2011-May-13
Just for your information:

QuoteIf you have made over $100 or 100 Euros, you will be paid on or around the 20th of the following month.

If you have not made $100 or 100 Euros, you will be paid after 6 months, on the 20th of the 7th month since you started accruing money.

In other months, if you've had an app out since November, the first report you received was on or around December 5th. The second in January, third February, fourth March, fifth April, sixth would have been days ago. Thus, you should be paid next month (June) around the 20th, assuming you didn't reach the $100 threshold by April 30th.

Keep in mind Dollars and Euros are separately tracked and paid, so if you have $120 and 30 Euros in sales for one month, you will be paid for the dollars but not Euros. Similarly, the 6-month time period is tracked separately for Dollars and Euros and is reset whenever you get paid.

Seems overly complicated and rather slow delivery of monies owed...

Basically, you are paid if you sell 100$/100€ or passed 6 months.

Hopefully Android app profits are sent quicker (it looks easier too)

We just need to make sure we produce lots of apps for WebOS that sell well. Simple. :P

TBH I'm really concerned with HP/Palm's ability to get accurate figures. The number of failed transactions I'm receiving is really alarming.

There are a number of issues with regard to total sales and the figures of games that failed. Devs are not sure if failed transactions are failed payments or accepted payments but where the app hasn't downloaded - or indeed someone has tried to pay for an app and been unsuccessful due to HP's problematic portal. HP has stated that these figures are inaccurate (but not giving evidence as to how or why), and other devs are questioning whether any of the sales data shown is accurate. Some claim that they have lost significant sales according to their current and recent stats since HP "updated" the portal.

The problem isn't helped by the layout of the payment screen - or rather there is no description telling you that the name should be as on the card, rather than the usual address layout.  I contributed to some of Ian's failed transactions because of that...

I'm sure you're not the only one, but that doesn't explain all the figures, for me and every other dev.

HP have screwed something up and none of the figures seem to be reliable.

Its one of their many problems :)

"Many problems" is a bit of an understatement. It's like they are making it all up as they go along.

I'm not complaining too much though - I got a nice lovely free phone from them =D

Indeed - they do appear amateurish at times.  Hopefully it will all be sorted by June, otherwise I can see there will be more complaints.

I suspect they had to do everything from scratch though - in which case, they did pretty well.

Yeah, I think they kinda jumped in feet-first into the mobile market when they bought out Palm. It does seem that they are trying pretty hard though.

At least they tend to fix things quickly and know their way around the system...  And the automated submission system now works!
