Hi all. I have downloaded the necessary webos development tools and the VB emulator. I run the palm emu and it works fine.
I have read in these forums that developing for Webos you need the actual device, is this still the case?
This is not a simulation but an emulator, don't see the reason why we can't run the apps.
If theres no way fine, I might buy, but surely there must be a way of running your glbasicwebos from the emulator.
It emulates the real thing perfectly.
If I have to buy what are your opinions and views on model etc. and 1 more thing, is it worth it from a developers point of view, because to be honest I have no intended use for it other than games programming :P
QuoteNot at this time. PDK apps are compiled to ARM code while the emulator uses x86 code, the same as your desktop machine.

The Palm Pre 3 is due for release soon so I'd expect the price of the current Pre range to drop. I'd definitely recommend the Pre2 (it's a lovely comfortable and fast machine) and if you're quick you might still be able to get hold of a dev machine for FREE. Head on over to https://developer.palm.com or PreCentral for information. There is a shortage of machines, but they send them out in batches anyway. You might get lucky.
Thanks guys. Don't see anything for the free machine though.
If your going to use the Palm just for development, then I'd recommend a Palm Pre(1) with 1.4.5
If your app runs fine on a 1.4.5 device then most likely it'll work on the Palm Pre 2, plus you can get
a Palm Pre(1)'s very cheap on eBay.
I purchased a Pre with 1.4.5 on eBay for $23.00, that was including shipping:
