Title: Forum problems
Post by: bigsofty on 2011-Feb-15
This has happened over the last week.

Each time I join the forum I have to relog in. This means no recent topics are available, making it difficult to keep up with the usual too an throw of the threads.

I choose login forever option. Cleared my browser cache and cookies. It even happens on different machines / browsers.

I am old hand at this kind of thing but this one has me confused.

Cheers,

Ian

It's working fine for me. No log-out problems at all.

We did have a problem over at RR recently with something similar - it was caused by someone auto-hacking various people's log-ins.

I have this too and I also had it last year for a while. But now I have been able to stay logged in for a while :-)

Ocean had that problem too. Very strange. I didn't change anything.

I can keep logged in for about a day but usually that's about it, before being asked to log in again?

Cheers,

Ian

Clear your cookies - that should help...  Perhaps they've become too old or something :/

I use Firefox and have never had this issue. Maybe Chrome is a tad odd?

Nothing worse than stale cookies. What a waste :P

BTW I'm using FireFox.

QuoteWhat a waste
Certainly is :)

I bet the expiry date was set to, say, a week or so ago.  I cant check now as I deleted my, mine the new cookies should expire in 2017...

Google have a bit of a habit of automagically updating your browser in such a way that it occasionally breaks things...

We have a shout box at indiecodez and from out of the blue the 'ding' noise had stopped working when people posted a shout... As well as it opening a javascript dialog window staying there was an error everytime you accessed the page... We tried like mad to fix it but it wouldnt graft, we eventually found that the only thing we could do was sit and wait till Google fixed what they broke... Which eventually, they did and everything went back to normal!

Obviously though, if it was IE the interwebs would of melted, they'd be mass protests on every bulletin board known to mankind, Google breaks its browser and all there was was a slight burping noise! ;)

I've had a few problems with cookies in Chrome - I had to clear them because I couldn't log into a webmail account!

That seems like a very good description.
The same thing (i.e. not remembering logins) seems to be happening on various websites in Chrome now since I updated - including hotmail, and even google websites!  I'm going to clear all cookies and see if that does anything, and I'd recommend trying the same for other chrome users.
