Title: Webcam support?
Post by: Kitty Hello on 2010-Dec-16
Hi,

there was some project on IRC, years ago, where you read an image from a webcam. Does anyone have such a source?

Background: I'm living very close to a military airport, but they started using it for civil use (business flights). They tell us they keep the official "hours of silence" (0:00 to 6am), but they _don't_. Now I want to make a program that automatically protocols any plane out there and if it's out of their times, send an email them and me. After a huge collection, I'd have to start suing (go to lawer?) them. I hope that the fear of being protocolled is enough to teach them, though.

Can't find the one I used to play with, it's too old I guess but this link I found:

Be careful with sending pictures to others though, since it's not always legal to place motion-detection cameras where they can get pictures outside of your house. Certainly not legal in sweden, you need special permits if there is a slight chance that you will capture individuals.

Surely if the planes are visible from his window, then that counts as in his public domain? If they are breaking laws by flying planes outside of allowed/specified times, then they need to be given a good slapping down. Evidence gathering is essential in these types of cases and I doubt any court would prosecute Gernot for doing this. It's not voyeurism and it is a breach of his human rights by whoever is flying the planes (noise pollution etc.) out of specified hours.

Go get'em Gernot!

amazing!
If it used MEM2SPRITE it could be even faster, on? Anyway. I need 1FPS, since I "listen" to the microphone to detect the planes before I shoot. (FFT and pitch recognition)
