I'm amazed that it was accepted due to the Batman logo being present. Looks cute :)

why it is not compatible with 3G?  :O

[OOPS - sorry, meant to post a reply and ended up posting in here. Not sure why :S - Ian]

Basically  the gfx that needed to load for the animations were too much for the 3g and blowing its limits.  I played about with loading them as the buttons were pressed, but it ruined the whole app, so i decided to just skip the 3G.  Not really very financially clever, but I was originally only going to do this for free, but my wife changed my mind :)

How did you know that it wasn't compatible on 3G? I didn't see that anywhere. How can I tell if it's compatible with my device? The link states -

Quote
Requirements:Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.1 or later

Is 3G a lower iOS than 3.1 or something?

I'm obviously new to all this.

I tested on a 3g, 3gs and iphone 4.  I put in the description that it is not 3g compatible, but I wasnt sure why it didnt say it in the metadata link on the appstore.  Is this something to set in the Iphone-plist?

Ahh - missed that. Thanks ampos, but yeah this should be obvious in the "Requirements" list.

I don't know Leginus, that's the point -  it's typically poor of Apple if they didn't give you a list box to check to show requirements, unless they test your app on all devices (possible but surely unlikely).

There is no option to check "compatible with/without".

Leginus just said this in the app description (plain text)

That's a lot of sales lost if it's only ios 4 compatible.
i'm still on 1G :) (2 first generation iPod Touches)
intend to buy the new Ipod Touch soon

ampos: You missed my point completely - I stated that this was an APPLE fault, not Leginus'.

Leginus clearly stated that his app was not compatible with 3G in his text (which was admittedly hidden at first, but that's by the by) - the Apple Requirements (on the left of the screen) did not point this out - and that is what I was referring to.

APPLE should be making it clear, by allowing the author to state (via tickboxes if necessary) which machine the app IS compatible with. Even the Wiz Archive does this, for FREE homebrew apps - this is a site that was created by amateurs for amateurs; Apple's site was apparently created by a bunch of chimps with keyboards (as is pretty much every piece of Apple software that I've seen so far). How many people might buy an app that is not compatible with their machine without even knowing? This is Apple's fault, not the author's.

Hey that's great Leginus. Well done!  :coke: :coke: Shouldn't it be in the Entertainment genre as it's not really a game?

Mmm you are probably right, although I was that confused by the whole apple submission circus I am surprised i even managed to sign it and get it to the app store   :)

You are, of course, quite right, but.... Apple takes a chunk of each sale, doesn't it? So a compatability chart might - in the short term - restrict it's income?

Oooh, I'm a cynic!

Indeed, but it's not particularly good relations to allow a user to pay for and download an app that isn't compatible with their device. Not that Apple give a toss about such things; they're like Bob Geldof - "Just give us your f###ing money!" :P

Or "well, if it doesn't work when you hold it like that - don't hold it like that!". In the long term it's not great PR, but they will probably try and spin it in their favour if/when they do add such a feature - and probably blame the backlog of uncategorised apps as a problem which prevents them from adding the feature in the short term :(
