I have a question for the iPhone developers, where did you find the graphics artist for your games? Looking at some of the games (http://www.glbasic.com/forum/index.php?topic=3857.15) such as Birdie In Trouble (by Ozden79) or Exodus (by fjsantosb) or DefCon Z (by kaotiklabs), they've got some nice artwork.
I'm nearing completion with one of my game projects and I've started looking for cartoonists/illustrators in the area of my hometown, but I'm not sure this is the best way to go.
I guess I could try to contact someone through a website like deviantart, they've got some GREAT artwork on there (http://browse.deviantart.com/manga/?order=9) :nw: But working via e-mail/chat, never meeting face-to-face seems kind of weird to me. Also, what would be an estimated price range for, let's say, three A4-size drawing/illustrations with or without color?
Any thoughts on this?
I'd avoid Manga/Anime as its style is very generic and may make it harder for your app to stand out in the crowd. Just my opinion though.
This is a good place to look for an artist ... http://www.game-artist.net/forums

Also guru.com if you're on a tight budget

I are working on a game for iPhone too...
My professional job its graphic designer with Coreldraw, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. 80% of my work is vector illustration, design... 20% photoshop...
But for my game I want Pixel look. I made my own grfx...
If you visit my blog (litiopixel), you can find some links to software tools, pixel tutorials, etc.
Good luck !!!
i feel glad after listening that you have developed new game by yourself but as you said you want to hire one of the man who can do good art for your website but one thing is they will charge high and other thing is you cant meet them face to face you can deal them through mails and chatting because they will not from our hometown. According to me it is better if you give art work to the person from your hometown whom you know better he will do better job for you.
I am currently starting Ironthrone Games with Raymond Gaustadnes.
He is a world class graphics artist, and he might have the possibility to do the work for you, but it depends on the scale of the project, and of course the payment.
You can see his art here: http://digitalartwork.no/
And some of the iPhone and facebook gamegraphics can be seen on his Deviantart site: http://shockbolt.deviantart.com/
There is also Karl Bryhn which is a friend of mine, but he might be busy with animated movies: http://www.flickr.com/photos/karl_bryhn/
I also know a few more thats in the same league as theese two, but i know they are busy right now.
Just send me a personal message which describe the scale of the project and the payment rates.
Some of Carl's timelapses drawing-videos can be found here:

If you are looking for a cartoonist, developer or anything relevant around your area, I think that would be a bit tough. But if we are talking about online human resources, there are a lot of art illustrators out there that could work on your job. But since you said that you are not comfortable working on stuff as such, like communicating online, discussing, quoting prices online, you can always go to an illustration from near your place and see whether anyone willing to take up that job.
