Poll
Question:
Would you want your GLBasic SDK on a CD or an SD card?
Option 1: CD

Option 2: SD card

Option 3: Download only for me

It's because my printer is a true pain when if comes to printing CDs. I hate it. And I could print a few SD card stickers more quickly and put the SD card into the DVD box instead. That way you could also overwrite the SDK with a newer version when one gets released. I think it's only benefits, but I might be wrong...
The cost of even a small SD card would severely impact your profit margin, wouldn't it Gernot? Or would you charge more for SD cards?
If your printer has such problems, then perhaps it might be wiser to invest in a newer printer? Initial expense should be offset by higher profits from selling CD/DVD.
As for overwriting the original SD - I would never do that. I'd rather use it once then keep it safe and just back up onto another SD/HD/DVD etc.
BTW - The Poll is borked. I can't vote. Has this not been fixed since the last time?
:S
"Either that poll doesn't exist, the poll has been locked, or you tried to vote twice."
Only download for me, thanks.
=D
Download is perfectly fine for me, too.
Download is fine for me too. However if there's a market for CD/SD copies, go for it. Hmm I think here we can get pre-printed label blank CDs through various places. Surely you'd have something like that in Germany? Mind you, it depends on how much they charge of course... Here I think from memory it's not too expensive. Mind you, I don't trust my memory. =D
Download only for me thanks
Download *Push the button* xD
I wasn't even aware that there was any other option besides download. =D
So it's download-only for me. You really shouldn't bother about printing CDs or SD cards in this day and age.
If you really wan't to have it on CD, why not press them professionally?
Last time I checked, producing small quantities of real, pressed, not burned, CDs (100-200 pieces) was reasonably priced. You could even find companies that burn and print to CD-R. I have one such company across the street where I live and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw their prices.
Yes, you might be right. I'll release the V7 SDK asap, fix some bugs if they come and then have some CDs manufactured. Burning them on my own is too much time.
Download too
Since i dont know what an SD is, i would say CD is best for me.
However, if i had the CD in a case, i wouldnt even open it...
...I would download regardless. :good:
SD (Secure Digital card) is a small memory card - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card
What about a small USB stick?
Am I the only one who finds the idea of having retail software on mem cards or USB sticks rather awkward?
Its bloody software - it should come on CD.
Or floppies.
Or cassette tape.

Cassette Tape????? :good:..... I'm go to take my old Philips Cassette recorder and my Spectrum. =D =D
cassette: #2resulted in typical data rates of 500 to 2000 bit/s"
thus, 250byte/sec. The SDK is 149451090 Bytes, thus 597804 seconds = 6 days, 22 hours. I think I add a few bytes to fill the whole week then ;)
If you used 60 minute tapes, you'd only need 166 tapes per install.
And I thought installing Windows with 32 * 3 1/4 inch floppies in the old days was hard work!
Real men use punch-cards or type it in themselves from a listing! :P
I have internet, I can download it myself. If I would like it on such a flimsy media as CD, I can burn it myself. If I need to reinstall it, I will download a new version anyway since then it has been updated again and it's probably faster than finding that CD :-)
