Title: PocketPC Music
Post by: quick2code on 2009-Jan-01
Can GlBasic play mod/tracker music on the PocketPC? The docs said any platform with the required codecs can play certain files. From what I know of other SDK's this might have to be something native to GlBasic to be possible. Thanks.

For Tracker music you would need something like BASS or FMOD, but unfortunately I dont think either has a library system for PocketPC's that can be interfaced with.

Well I'm not too sure about that. They have a pocket player that can play mod,xm,etc tracker music for the PocketPC. Of course with GlBasic, that would mean a lib or/and dll export with every game you design which would be ridiculous for some people who have several games on their system. Oh well. Nice thought though.

I'm not 100% sure, but I *think* PPC will play mod modules with PLAYMUSIC. Don't blame me if it's not.
MP3 on pocketpc is not easy as MS does not offer any interface for this.

Hekkus Soundsystem should support xm/mod on PocketPC.

This is what the website says:

Hekkus Sound System is a small and fast sound engine for
WinCE/iPhone/Symbian/Win32/MacOSX/Linux/PSP/GP2X and .NET application,
expecially designed for games.

For a small donation, you will also get the sourcecode :)
