cool but will it Blend ? äh i mean is it working ;)

Kitty Hello

ace news. I'll try to implement iCade/iControlPad support for WebOS then, too.
Yes, and android.

Hi Gernot

I've just paired up my wireless Bluetooth Mac keyboard with the TouchPad and while many keys are the same keycode as for pc, some are very different - eg cursor keys (UP cursor is 197) and I can't get values for the other cursor keys.

Here's the code I used -

Code (glbasic) Select

LOCAL a, n

WHILE TRUE

PRINT "PRESS A KEY.",100,50

FOR n=0 TO 255
IF KEY(n) THEN a=n
NEXT

PRINT a,100,100

SHOWSCREEN

WEND

Is there anything I can do to get these values?

Kitty Hello

Very strange.
I did nothing fancy for webos, so I think it's a mission feature. Can you use the cursor keys in a text box of the webbrowser?

Ian Price

Hi Gernot - yes, the cursor keys work fine in a browser text box.

It would be interesting to see if other BT keyboards have differing values for the cursor keys - I've attached the .IPK file.

As stated above, my Mac BT keyboard produces 197 for UP and no values for any other cursor keys.

I am considering it, but waiting for now.

I am installing it using this guide, and it is really easy...

It deserves a try...

I'm not waiting because I'm worried about doing it - I'm waiting for a less buggy, non-beta version.

I just played a bit with it and... it was amazing.

I have not seen anything real "alpha". The only thing that crash was the 3D VIEW of photos. I even installed GLOWING SKY FREE from the Market and it works great.

had no problem with the wifi, it worked as expected.

If someone wants to install it, a few things:

-Remove the WebOS kernel patch that overclocks the device or ClockworkMod will not install. You can install the webos path later after the Android install.

-Place the google install package with all the other packages in cminstall, so it will be installed in the first install batch.

-The install process takes a lot of time. 2 times I thought it was frozen; just let it continue. Once installed, the Android boot is faster than webos boot.

I try a compile from GLBasic to AndroTouch, but failed. It was late and didnt want to test further.

Ummm...
WIFI - slow/unstable
Having to hard-reset when idle.

There are others, but they don't bother me. These are two pretty big things for me, as I do let my TP go idle between testing - having to hard reset every two minutes would really annoy.

As for Android, there's nothing on there that I really want that I can't do with my Touchpad & laptop anyway at the moment, so why rush into it?

I did only a few tests, but wifi worked fine for me.

About the reset, it entered in idle status a few times tonite and had not to reset it.

Like I said, I'll wait a bit. Shouldn't be too long, they've got so much working in such a quick time.

To me Android really isn't important. It never has been. It's too fractured to be a valuable asset, with too many variations - I much prefer stable and standard formats. Android tablet apps don't even fit on the TP screen.

If you enjoy it, then great, but I can wait.
