Hello all,

I just have finished the first "demolevel" of my veryfirst Glbasic game for android. The game should work on tablets as well as on smartphones.

Please test it and feel free to let me know what you think.

On my tablet, It takes 20-30 seconds when starting the game the first time. But it should run. After starting it once, It will start much faster next time...

Does look good - will have to try that!

Cool. Care to post a video preview?

Nathan

Looks really good, superb graphics, did you draw them yourself?  Dunno if you know, just tried the link and said it's temporary unavailable.

svenart

thanks for your comments so far :booze:

@ Nathan: Most of the Grafix is made by myself (Im more artist than programmer actually), but a few of the shipmodels are from Sender Pinarci (free downloads at Turbosquid). Also the earth model in the mainscreen is made by my friend Kerem Gogus (also from Turbosquid).

I checked the link some moments ago and It seems to work now.

@ matchy: Good Idea, I will try to make a short preview in the next days.

On an Xperia play it looks like the screen has been zoomed in a lot, the ship is about a 3rd of the width of the screen, the menu text is badly cropped and you can hardly get out of the way of the rocks.

I will get some screen shots if you need them

On my Optus My Tab ZTE V9 tablet (Android 2.2):  Looks good (no distortion or display issues), but came awfully close to running out of RAM while loading (actually switched me to the active processes window first time I ran it to see if I could close anything to free up RAM).  However the game itself ran about 5FPS once it got going.  Not surprised to be honest.  This is only a 600MHz processor (bottom of the range Android tablet).  If this tablet runs something, should pretty much run on any other Android device. ;)  Plus while testing GLB demos I've noticed it seems to run 3D far better than 2D.  In any case 5FPS isn't what I'd call playable.

On my Samsung Galaxy Mini (Android 2.3.4): Woah...  Ok loads fine, but the display doesn't fit the screen.  Basically it's like my screen has zoomed in on your title screen graphic to the point that all I can see is "-TYP" and "TART GAM".  Ok, when I click on "TART GAM" it starts and displays the main game screen ok for the most part.  Well text etc. is fine, just that there's hardly any room to move and because the play area is greatly reduced it makes it much harder to react.  FPS was over double the tablet but still not great.  Around 13FPS this time.  Still I think the display issues are by far a bigger issue than game speed as it was playable at 13FPS.

Now overall I love the graphics and the sound effects/music.  If you can fix the display issues on smaller devices and maybe tweak the speed (if possible) you should be good to go to make more levels.

HI I test in my Archos 70 , and goes vey slowly, about 14 ~ 20 FPS.

The graphics are superb, and it´s very fun, but for me, in my tablet don´t it´s too much playable, it´s strange, the graphics I´m not sure if are 3d real, but not are too much dense for make the game slowly.

On Galaxy S II most of the screen isn't viewable, i.e. outside the viewing area, but what is viewable runs smoothly at around 30 FPS. Looks and sounds promising.

thank you all very much for your feedback. Meanwhile I have found a way to fix the resolution problems and changed a lot of other minor things. Also, I was able to make it run a bit faster. I hope I will be able to post a updated version soon.

Got to find the phone first :)

Just tried this, and Im afraid to say, it didn`t work well. On the main screen i get at the top "-TYP", followed underneath by "TART GAM" etc ;(

It looks like theres only 1 quarter of a screen shwon as in the game, the score details fill the top half of the screen, and the pause button fills almost the top right quarter of the screen ;(

svenart

hello minion

What device are you using and wich resolution has your device? On tablets it is running well, but on smartphones I have problems with the resolutions. EVen if a smartphone has good resolution the game will be displayed in much smaller resolution.

for example, I testes with a samsung galaxy note (1280x800) but it run only on 640x400

I already have found a solution to fix it, but that will take a little bit time.

thanks for testing:)

Its a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, 854,480 resolution. iT was also running at 24.5 fps

I have now updated the demo that It should run on much more different resolutions and also on smartphones. Also I added a menue, bombs to pickup (activate with double tap), iron meteors (cant destroy them), and a few other things.

The game should run faster now. If it is still slow running, you can set the graphics to "low" or "medium" in the options menue.
