Title: Aaagggghhhh! F**king hate Apple!!!!

Ok so I get my update to Snake Revolutions through (took a bloody week again) and it's on the app store. Great. I also at the same time did a free version (released on WebOS in a day). Apple though have rejected it. Why you may ask? See here:-

Rather than requiring users to find, purchase, and download your other application from the App Store, In App Purchase provides a seamless, in app purchasing experience for your users, and an improved selling experience for you.
So I can't do a free version now? Because it has limited functionality? Isn't that the point?

So can't be bothered right now. So my original app had a quit button and a free (limited) version and got through fine. This one has failed because of both things now. Fuggit, don't think I can be bothered with a free version now...

Out of interest to keep things the same across platforms (much prefer that) then in the future with my free but in-app purchase idea of a game, sure we can do that with the new in-app purchasing APIs for iOS, but is there anything for the WebOS and Android platforms?

I see its its might been your fault and also dont do something a subject like this. Its annoyring to read in this forum.

As I read you have wrote its was a trail in the Description, which is why it might been rejected. Its might not been game relative, but more description. Also eventuelly change you should call it light and do a time limit on a session instead, so people have a change to get a nice score, even on a limited time (say 5 minuttes). That could been fun in a lite version like this kind of game.

.. and dont forget to add a link to the full game of course.

declare it as "lite" instead of "trial". They fear it has a time-trial limit.

Waiting times: I submitted GACK for the iPad on Feb, 22 - go figure...

Remve any reference to litew or trial on the description. And as soon as it is aproved, chgange the app description to anything yoo like. This description changes are instrantaneous and not suervised.

InApp urchases does exists for Android and WebOS but no code in glb to support it. If you rally want to imolement it you could check the PayPa InApp purchase code, as it should work in any platform (even ios, although it will not be approved).

In my apps, i have a link to the full apps i the market when someone click in "upgade"

Also Google does NOT like PalPay when using on Android and they might remove developers that trying that. So Android is not open as its should.

I also would avoid change description after approval, since Apple could remove it from AppStore when they got it reported and/or people eventuelly just give you negative review. I also dislike the idea about a score limit (was it 40000?), but instead a time trail for each game session (this is >ONLY< a personally throught). Its would fell much more as a lite than a trail.

Ok i read much things of this and cant understand why 90% write "i hate apple".
why you not read the guidelines from apple or understand why apple make the appstore approval.

its easy to say all is bad and i hate that but please try to understand first and write than.
(its not personal for you crivens, for all in the world wide internet)

i managed to make this glbasic to iphone project with kitty to make it possible for all members
and buyers of glbasic to write apps and games for iphone platform and if i read threads like
these one i want to got back some years ago and delete the source of this.

there are so many games made with glbasic in appstore and i think some of the most developers
earned some bucks with it, but would these would be possible without apple?

It's so ironic to me to see non-professional conduct being used when earning a dollar. I'm pointing at both Crivens and ampos here as it doesn't seem to be a moral concern.

Ah, that is so sad. Its sad but it would also be tragic if you could go back an undo all that great work.

Its not just the internet, its human in general to say you love or hate what they have to work with depending on what is happening in the moment. Sometimes the pressure and passion builds up too much steam and when its blocked, it fires off in messy directions.

Many of us may not have been here if you hadn't made it possible to make iphone games with GLBasic, me included. Its an amazing thing to have achieved such wide platform support. You and Kitty are like heroes.

I can not agree more than trucidare when not have read guideline, its why its there.

So eiter you drop Apple support for your games, or follow Apples Guidelines. You cannot do anything other if you want to business with Apple anyway. Apple just not want real trail ware, but instead they prefer Lite versions with fewer features or such (etc fewer levels or using ads).

But what is the difference between LITE, DEMO and TRIAL?

To me, they seem to be the same.

Probably doesn`t help much, but when I see those added to a product they mean the following to me :-

LITE : Unlimited use, but certain features disabled.

DEMO : Not the complete version (anything could be missing, levels, ability to save or use other options as there not implemented etc) just a taster oif whats coming.

TRIAL : Full featured, but only for a trail period (30 day / 10 plays etc)

Just say it is a free version!!!

Look at what Brd did with the Snake Slider, he has a Free version and if people like they buy the  full version.

For sure, FREE is better then LITE, DEMO and TRIAL.

Although I have an existential problem with "demo" kind of things for game, so, make none, just charge.
A video of the gameplay should be enough  ;/

This game did have a limit of 400000 points (if remember correct), which was threated as trail. Since its was limited by a trail, it did not fellow Apple guideline.

It's only my trought and apple is strict here, but there is work a round.

So yes I agree different between lite, trail and demo.

Snake Slider is a excellent how to do.

You can quit things or levels in the free version, but not to put limits in the app or disable options. Making a trial or limited version is prohibited by Apple in their guidelines.

uau, sounds fare on my books, I didnĀ“t know that.
Although I think DLC kind of game is even worse, I usually steer miles away when I see it.

ps: Trucidade, Matchy, I wound not bother for such, it is just ranting and in a most non-professional form, but we all do that once in a while, it is forgivable ;)
We all work with computers for ages, I guess we all know how one or two companies go on about...you should see me ranting about adobe :P

edit: what I mean by non-pro is the threads name, that is. but then again...

I'm not sure it is relevant that it is in the Apple Developer agreement or not, clearly as a paid member of Apple's Developer program, people have the right to disagree with their policies. I'm not sure why expressing a feeling of frustration is suddenly not allowed here, after all didn't you just vent your frustration as well, Trudicare? I don't disagree with what Trudicare says but I also do not disagree with Crivens. Apple's policies can be frustrating at times.

I have my own frustration with Apple, I set my game to have a future release date and when that day came and my game released, the sorting for the new section was based on the approval date, not the actual release date so it was 65 pages back in the "what's new" section on day 1. After hours on the phone with them, it never did get fixed. Wouldn't anybody have the right to be frustrated at Apple if they were in a similar situation?

Sorry Trudicare, I had a hard time thinking about how wonderful Apple was on that particular day.  :)

My app has been rejected because it had the word "demo"  in the name. So i rename it and i am just  waiting....

I have faced the real issue why Apple not want Trail versions of thier apps:

There is still many countries which is impossible to pay for the app. Here for WebOS I cannot pay for apps for WebOS at all (I selected Denmark, which is unsupported, but cannot change it after that, why that restriction HP?). Here hence apps that is trail with any limit is for me now a absolutte a nogo, and have no interest for it. Why trying download a trail software I cant pay? This hence Apple trying to avoid extracly that, so its mightbeen have a reason.

So for me, I also prefer lite versions which dosent try to restrict those features by any trail thing. I prefer time per game session (snake game like this can do that), not by any other limits. Much better is also Ads supported (we still missing some ads service that works for all platforms or possible to use a html gadget).

Also its was also too clear its was a trail ware here, so clean reject from Apple Side which he should trying again and fix the issue, so its suit its guideline).

I think it's all in how you present your lite version.
It can't sound like you are removing features or crippling it in any way.
It must market itself as a fully functional game where you can play it from start to end.
(Apple doesn't want to be known for selling incomplete games or trials or demos etc).

However, the 'full' version can be worded to include extra features and options.  (More time, levels, features, etc).
Plus, this is how you should want to market your games, by removing any negative aspects from the description and spin it all in positive words.  (ie. don't mention the lite version has limited time, only mention the full version has extended time.)

In the end it is all the same (whether you say you remove features from the lite version, OR add features to the full version) it just that Apple prefers the 2nd marketing method!

I'm quite suprised the application review process allowed this game through ...

... while it seems like quite a good game, this "free" version allows you to drive for what, 1500 metres or so, 30 seconds if that, of play, have a look at the reviews for peoples annoyance at it.  I think it probably took me longer to download it than actually play it.

all peoples over the world think - paying for something make himself like a god.
you pay GEZ for watching tv for free and you cant choose what they show every evening.

you pay 99$ for apple to get access to an appstore and for submitting selfmade pieces of software without having the trouble with non working apps because these one would be rejected. you dont pay for saying "hi apple, you have to do what i want!" - guidelines are important for things like appstores for allowing a marketplace there all software titles have clear structures.

yes - there are some annoying things like rejects with paragraphs like demo not allowed or something similar but i see the thing behind - look at the android market there are more and more every day like spyware, scareware and apps who simply steal your personal data.
Just reading the guidelines and all will be fine.

and now give me the stones - im ready to get stoned? (is this correct?)

Dots-n-lines demo/free was reyected because 1)it said "demo" 2)they can not find the inapp purchase.

I changed the name to something else without the demo word and tell them "the inapp is in the main screen, where it says 'get more images'". Amazing. It got approved.

The updates to DnL previous version I got an email saying "the review process will take longer than expected"  :O

When did this forum become so harsh and unforgiving??

The GLbasic community has always been a friendly community with respect and friendliness to everyone.  It has always been a place where  people were never afraid to ask a question or make a statement in case they got shot down in flames (Unlike most other forums).

I think poor Crivens may think twice about even popsting on the forum, never mind asking a question again.  I think it was too harsh and not needed.
Lets not be so quick to react, and lets get back to a more chilled forum, otherwise we might as well go and troll the Pouet forums all day.

Its not that negative about this forum, most is forgivement in the offtype, which is much much more forgive to critic things and its there its should been.
