LOL, excellent.  I've only got standard characters in my font set (A-Z,a-z,0-9 etc), will it be ok to use those instead of Ã... Ä ö etc?

I think you'll find there is a very big difference between standard letters and those with accents etc.

What I did for my game is included special characters as generally unused ASCII chars (%£#$ etc.) and just used them in text instead of standard characters). It's not ideal, but it does give you flexibility and it works flawlessly.

You can use 256 character sets, too. These should be able to display äöü and such. The fontmaker can do it, or you make your own font and simply make the image higher than wide. Then GLBasic will assume it's a 16x16 character table.

In German you can substitute:
ä = ae
ö = oe
ü = ue
ß = sz (or ss)

It's set to default. If you are running with russian support on your computer mabe it supports russian by default? Mine supports swedish by default so I get the swedish characters there.

A wee problem with the Russian character set as it conflicts with the other accented characters that are in those places already.  I've got three fonts already, now they are double the height for the extra characters.  I don't think I'm going to be able to include a Russian variant as well.  It looks pretty neat but sorry I won't be able to realistically use it this time.
