Hi Duffer Welcome, I know I watch a lot of time a code for make terrain from alpha... Really I need to a tool for make terrains, if you don't find something interesting take a look to the 3D Forum, normally I put some free and pay applications, and for make terrains I put the link of a very interesting app for free.
