How do I install a WinCE program on my Pocket PC. I have an Ipaq rx1950.  I have copied the exe file to the program folder along with media files and the program runs ok but doesnt show on main screen as an installed  program. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I suspect you need to make a shortcut somehow - I haven't looked at that yet - and just start the program using Explorer.

It can be done programatically of course, or perhaps using an Windows CE installer program.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the shortcut idea first. Will have a search for WinCE installers, one that produces a cab file would be ideal, although I do have Windows Mobile Sync installed.

I like my rx1950. :)

CAB files installs is something I've wondered about but never got around to doing it but I figured that it would be part of Visual Studio.  :P

I wondered if a soft reset might work after placing exe file in programs folder. It might be better if GLB produced an install file as well as a runnable application. It might just be a case of putting the exe file in the correct folder. I had a similar problem with Frotz, the text adventure runner but eventually found a solution. The main thing is to place it somewhere it can be accessed easily without having to open multiple folders to find it.
Nice to find someone with an rx1950, I love mine too!  :good:

Yes, creating a CAB file from GLBasic would be nice...

Kitty Hello

I've just found a Pocket PC  Installation Maker on the link below.
Said to be free for non-commecial use and fully featured, but for commercial use
the license is €39.
Haven't tried it yet so can't comment on its performance.

Update:

It works a treat. I bought the full commercial version.

As mrtatoad said you should make shortcut on desktop so that you can see a icon on desktop and moreover pocket pc are so small that it is difficult to see icons on screen so it is better if you open it from your own program file.
