HTML5 JS

Hey all, just wanted your views on this.

I have finally registered my own domain http://www.toparcadeapps.com and want to start making games playable on it etc.

I wanted to dive straight into html5 and javascript but before I do that are there any good tools out there that caters for an all in one package? I have heard about Monkey-X. Anyone used that?

I would love to use glbasic for html but it is not even close at the moment of delivering for html.

There are also port packages like phonegap if I decide to code in javascript and then opt to port natively.

Happy to hear your thoughts.
Regards

Omadan I think if you want the best in Html5, pick code in JavaScript and Html, it's really easy, only need a bit of time, but will be the same if you begin qith monkey X, I read about monkey X and I think people of here it's there too... I never touch but it's different to GLbasic.

I touch a bit JS, and you have libraries for all and it's easy make things, another way it's use soft like constructor 2 it's free and it's something like GameMaker, for make 2D games comes fine.

I use (I'm learning) Shiva 3D, beacuse the 3D it's very most powerfull than GLbasic and you can export to Html5 and Flash, I don't understand Flash it's a dead technology.

Search a bit, today practically all engines and applications supports Html5 and practically always are free.

Hi Mental long time we dont chat :)

Yep I will begin my Javascript journey then.

I hope that when I want something native I can use phonegap to port my js game to iOS etc.

I have read on libraries such as:

Phaser / Crafty / Easel / Enchant.js

Anyone used any js game frameworks.

I would like to start on a good framework from the very beginning so I dont have to discover it's not that good and change mid-way.

Any thoughts are more than welcome.

Thanks

ps: mental did you check my webpage? what do you think.

About the Frameworks I don't use never one, only three3D it's for make 3D , but realy good like a Xbox but in the browser...

If you wait a bit, I think tomorrow here in Spain Dinamic goes to present Orion, a JavaScript Engine  free for make games, perhaps can be a good solution for develop under Html5, they did this game, I don't look nothing , tommorrow it's the presentation in RetroMadrid...

About your web, I don't rebenber, I think I take a look but make a lot of time... , I comment something in MP. ok?¿...

For the users of the forum, stay Alert about Lakento seems will be a publisher for mobile Developers... I ear bad things about Dinamic in the Gold Era, in 80's but I think like publishers they are very good...

Are you sure you can´t delyver games in html5 yet with GLB? I did some tests and it did ok, no 3d going yet, but legacy stuff did work fine on my end. I haven´t fully tested my game with it yet though. Also it only worked in firefox, but I think there may be a way around it. Anyways, just wondering.

Omadan

Hi Erico, I tried in Chrome and IE and did not work, you say it works in FireFox browser, but then thats not good because I want it to work even on mobile browsers, so thats definately not the way to go. I will start on Javascript and report here how it goes :)

Thanks all

Hi Omadan. Very cool site, and some awesome-looking apps. Great job!  :good:

Not personally, but I've been following them for some time now. From the developers of BlitzBasic, utilising a variant syntax of BASIC itself, its platform support has grown considerably, and apps developed with it have been approved for the Apple AppStore, Google Play, Windows Store, and XBox Marketplace. Seems pretty decent for $99.00.

Since you're targeting HTML5, you could perhaps give the free version a try; it can compile for desktops and HTML5.  :)

Thanks all for your comments, I really appreciate it guys.

@Snoopy I believe Flappy Bird is a tard harder so imagine, I just got past the 3rd pipe, whereas in my Batsy I reach 11. :)
Once I decide which path I will take I will have many more games for all to play, plus I am working on a new game as we speak.

@TI-994a I might try that monkey-x html5 but if it fails on mobile browsers I won't use it. Though I must admit that my mind is on Javascript now :)

Thanks to all once again.

Hi Omadan. Just an update on Monkey-X; here's a recent blog post from its developer, Mark Sibly:

A slightly depressing update...

It might help you decide.  ;)

That is not a nice statement to read. I fell sad for Mark, he has been around since forever. I hope it all turn up better for his endevours.
I sure can relate to what he stated, sometimes life condition sucks.
