Heck I know I know it is ridiculous all that gangnam style stuff and the "tchun tcha tcha tchun" that was before.
But it seems this is going to be new style to promote pop stuff on a different level.

Getting this aside, something going on worldwide in momentum can sure create vacum for better things to come,
or at least an opportunity for good people to embrace the joy/joke.

Being the highest fan of john carpenter´s movies (the ones he did with his team, not everything that he sold his name for...) I just
have to present this:

Great production/costumes/actors/music, unfortunantly, poor CG, but it is kept to minimun whatsoever.
Worth checking out while you wait for the check on the mail...

Got around this one here:

"But hey, isen´t xcom already a kind of rogue thing?"
"Yep, but it needs ascii to be legit. :P"

So, check this out:

This seems to me to have a lot of potential.

Asmo, at the pandora boards, found this archive with the serie here:
http://archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Acomputer-programme&sort=-publicdate

I never saw it before, but since at that age I was getting into computers (cocoII), the whole scene is awfully familiar :P (specially people´s visuals).
I have to bow for the quality, the acting is fantastic and the amount of humor just perfect. Somehow, the cheesy set kind of fits it all. Good infos too.

I´m having great fun checking them out.

EDIT: back in brasil, no tv shows, just some computer tv ads and mainly CPU magazines and the INPUT collection all based on a few 8bit comps of the time. Good thing I could import the rainbow magazines...altough I didn´t knew english :P

For those who don´t know, Craig´s project 3, Icontrol Pad 2, is up on kickstarter.
It seems like a nice thing for an 8bit computer emu on the go?

Hello all,

there seems to be a chap on another forum wanting to sign in on these boards and as he said:

"I have changed the email it registered to and checked my spam box. No emails in 12 attempts?" _ Zapiy

How to proceed on such?

After Wampus´ post on ´what kind of thinker are you', I have decided to follow the lead, hehe :nana:

This test is supposed to point your possible career/area of work, that you are most likely to succeed.
All based on your choice of color you like best or worse.
Quite funky.

http://www.careerpath.com/career-tests/color-test/

Funny is, that I guess almost all of us already have a career of some degree going, it is fun to check wether this thing can at least get close to it. :P

I found this stuff by this article here on the escapist, in case you wanna read more before wasting time:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118204-Find-Your-Perfect-Career-by-Choosing-Colors

It seems I´m a CREATOR.
Nonconforming, Impulsive, Expressive, Romantic :puke:, Intuitive, Sensitive, and Emotional.

How do you guys score? Does it have anything to do with what you do for living?

Here is some article by Matej Jan.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/173068/congratulations_your_first_indie_.php?page=1

Is is a good reading about what to expect, nothing much different from my own researches so far, but quite good.
I do have to disagree a bit on the "don´t worry the results, the process is more important" ideal, but I guess he lays it on a nice way.

One thing I like about it though (that he dosen´t mention), is that making an article about your game experience, is a powerful way to promote that same game, specially if it lands on the likes of Gamasutra (well, somehow, I´m promoting his game by posting this here right?). People have been doing this for quite a while now and the majority is quite good. Although lately, things started getting redundant, people are promoting their games by article talking the same old things. Such a tatic is also not new, the majority of the communication industry already relies on this for ages.

Anyway, I find this a good read, I agree with the great majority of his points of view.
What to you guys think?

Off Topic / MS tablets
2012-Jun-21
So there has been the launch on the microsoft tablet thing...

RPS has a few interesting points here:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06/19/microsoft-surface-pc-gaming/#more-112773

But what it seems to me, is that the ´good´ version will be able to run GLB of the box.
This ought to be good  :)

Any opinions on the subject?

I posted this before a million times...

but it has been offline for quite a while, so here it goes again:
http://inudge.net/inudge

You do get better music programs all around, but this one seems to me extremely powerful and yet, simple...
...just draw whatever on screen, get the sound, built the rest up on a sound package.

Have fun!

A new game for the c64!
I will quote Indie Game´s review on the part that got my attention:
QuoteThe game is a procedurally generated flick-screen shmup/platformer that plays a bit like the classic Cybernoid, featuring impressively huge maps, a multitude of enemies and more than a few bosses. Somehow, all this has been crammed into 16 mere kilobytes of memory.

Pretty neat!

I have this game going and would like to have it running on desktops as well as caanoo and pandora.
Thing is, it has a set of RND commands to position some objects on screen.

While testing things yesterday night, I noticed everytime I run this on the caanoo, the RND is always the same. On desktops, no problems.
I remember back on the AMOS days, that in order to get to random numbers, you had to use a RANDOMIZE TIMER command, otherwise things would be similar to what I´m experiencing on caanoo.

So, is there such a way to do this?

Off Topic / squares[]
2012-May-11
Out of coming out of so much trouble...I wonder, what those squares under a forum´s user mean? I can´t seem to find any solution on the faq.
#134
Hi guys, as of today I can´t seem to connect to either at all.

By using a proxy, I can, that is how I´m here now  :o

So it seems it is a problem with my ISP, what are you experiences with such things? Any recommended solution?
#135
Since we are all excited about the possibilities of html5, I wonder about what have you guys seen on it around the net.

Today a friend sent me this link, quite nice uh?

Off Topic / Pebble watch
2012-May-02
maybe we can compile for this too with GLB? hehe

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/597507018/pebble-e-paper-watch-for-iphone-and-android

I have never been a fan of watches, with the exception of old pocket ones.
What do you guys think of this?
#137
It is in portuguese(brasilian kind), but our spanish friends may not have trouble understanding, there is also english subs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX9rSCRiVbc&list=FLL0P4AeySAhyfD1vlkt2sAw&index=2&feature=plpp_video

what is quite nice is that they are using Minas Gerais´s state of tell tale with music, quite an unique great style and it did come good on that, hope you guys enjoy.
#138
I thought this was posted before, but could not find it if it did so...

http://www.gamegadget.net/developers/info_14.html

That is their dev´s page, I believe there will be an appstore for that and it being linux x86 ,320x240, no opengl I believe there isn´t much needed to compile for that? Maybe the current caanoo or wiz or linux output could work out of the box?
Should they succeed, could it be another store/platform to support and make a buck?

Handheld floods!
#139
Been thinking on sharing this for quite a while.

http://www.modulaatio.com/runningwithrifles/

It is an "in dev" pay for beta kind of thing but is fully playable.
Has a single player demo, but the fun is playing online with friends.

Hope you ´war, never been so much fun´ guys enjoy.

This one article here is quite interesting.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/168303/defenders_quest_by_the_numbers.php

Quite inspiring on the ´informal´ ways he pushes momentum on advertising his game.
Great read, go check out!
