If you are working on a game for the current GlBasic competition, it would be great to hear from you. It would be good to see how many games we can expect, what they are and what they might look like.
It's common knowledge that I am entering a game - B'lox! It's a puzzle game with one simple rule - place coloured sliding blocks onto pads of the same colour. Once all pads are covered, the puzzle is complete. I currently have over 60 puzzles, but I'm hoping to get that upto around 100.

Anyone else prepared to reveal all? (hubba, hubba!)
Well done Ian, ;) lookin good!
Er, I'm not working on one, as it has been finished for a little while ;)
Danger Mouse in the Black Forest Chateau is available from my site, with versions for Windoze, Linux, OS/X and GP2X
Here is my entry. It's a "platformer", jump-and-collect-coins-and-solve-little-logical-tasks type game . There are more layer scrolling with different speed.
No title screen, music and sound effects yet :(

That looks nice :)

Thank you!
About the background (the diagonal stripes), so i borrowed the idea from you :)
That looks superb Albert.
My entry is still in progress and called Ms Mouth Trap. I've had a slow week this week with a mixture of work outings and overtime followed by this cold-flu-like thing going around. Hope to accelerate into next week to get a lot done !
@iprice & Albert
Hey - great stuff - keep on coding :)
Here mine for the competition: Muepp Muepp
You must catch a bunch of smilies by touching them with the pen on the touchscreen. The game contains 4 levels at the moment.
Here are some screenshots:

Feel free to use the stuff in your project !
CYA !
I played one of your ealier versions of Muepp Muepp - it was good fun :)
Hello
My project is top secret. I don't even know what it is.;) No, it's just a mastermind game with numbers instead of colors. Nothing unusual.:D It's called Codemaster. Here a screen:
Gernot, this week you will get a mail from me. As you know, i can't test it on the GP2X. I hope it works. If it doesn't...:(
Anyone else? :D
Cheers
My project is top secret =P But i will enter competition
My Project is on intensive art-desinging. I cannot supply any screenshot because of very WIP status.

A description of some sort would suffice :)
Damn nice guys ;)
All games looking fu..ing good ;)
Right. I've uploaded my entry to the competition email address. Can you confirm you've received it Gernot? Cheers :)
yes, I'll open another thread for that.
Can i submit demo of my game to the competition? I think i can't finish full game in time.
Yes, sure. It should be playable and have at least a few levels. (Depending on what your game is).
Gernot, I've just uploaded an update to my B'lox! game (now includes difficulty gradiented 97 puzzles and a few navigational extras).
Aye, got it.
Here's my B'lox! game - http://www.iprice.remakes.org/stuff/B'lox!.rar
Compiled executables for pc and GP2X included. 100 head-scratching puzzles :D
The link dosent work iprice!
Hmmm... strange. The same link works from other sites. It is correct. http://www.iprice.remakes.org/stuff/B'lox!.rar
If it doesn't work, then paste it into your browser. I've checked and it works from the browser, but not the link.
Is linking disabled here?
Thanks for letting me know Schranz0r
It's the ' char in the filename.... when you click the link it comes out as http://www.iprice.remakes.org/stuff/Blox!.rar instead of http://www.iprice.remakes.org/stuff/B'lox!.rar. The forum probably removes ' to stop you injecting SQL.
Not going to make it, real life not allowing me GLB time... :(
Good luck with your games guys! :)
iprice: Please rename youre downloadfile ;)
www.iprice.remakes.org/stuff/B'lox!.rar(Copy Past!)
That works for me ;)
EDIT:
WHATS a cool game :)
Nice work iprice!
Loving this game Mr P - oh, and level 44 is evil! :D
I aim to please, glad you're enjoying it. :)
Sorry about the download problems - I haven't had problems anywhere else, so I didn't know about the ' problem (cheers Andy).
iprice: You can click on a several hotspot on the blue bar (top of the screen) where no button visible. You can get weird message like: New Record, Play previos level, Congratulation.
I'm getting closer to being able to submit a playable demo of my game for the 25th so keep fingers crossed. Anything I don't complete in time will be done after the competition. Even if I don't get it complete (or as much complete as I want) for the deadline it's still been a lot of fun doing it :)
Thank for your game iprice, this brings back nice memories of the good'n old retro times :)

I've identified a new bug (when using touchscreen or mouse) the EXIT button doesn't function correctly. I've now fixed this and sent a new version to Gernot.
I'll upload a new version later. Sorry about that.
Its OK iprice ;)
I'm on level 67 now, thats a hard one .... :(
;)
COOL GAME !
I'm on level 80 and it is a real head scratcher
edit - though not as much as 85! :)
rofl
Now this is good feedback - people actually playing and enjoying the game. Cheers chaps :)
Who said anything about enjoying it? ;) - the bloody computer is going out the window soon! :D
Right, just a quick "bug" (hopefully you'll have time to correct it before the deadline) - the game doesn't actually have an end :( I've played through 100 levels of mental torture, only to be faced with level 101, and a blank screen :(
The upside is, at least you now know all the levels are solvable ;)
Isn't 100 enough?! ;)
I knew that anyway PeeJay - I completed them first! Then Manjuu, over at GP32X - he's a B'lox! demon I tellz the! But then again, you've also finished them all pretty quickly too. :)
And no, the game doesn't end - it's awaiting more puzzles. Would you care to create some? It can handle another 896, if you've got some free time :P
I'm not much of a level designer, I'm afraid, and very much doubt I can top the difficulty level already presented (especially come of those absolute nightmares from 80+ !)
An obvious answer would be to check for the presence of the next dat file, and if it doesn't exist, give a "Congratulations you success!" screen or something :D
Just an idea for the future - perhaps you could come up with an algo to work out how to do the puzzle in the minimum amount of moves, and give a score according to that? That way, even after you have completed the levels, you would still have something to aim at (as the chances of taking the minimum number of moves on every level are pretty remote.) Mind you, working out a "level solve" algo would be a bit of a nightmare, to say the least!!!
I did actually have a "No more puzzles available" message (which did exactly what you are suggesting) in my PlayBasic Easter version last year - I might put that back in.
As for a puzzle solving algo - you first! :D
BTW You don't have to be a great level designer - I'm certainly not. You can create a difficult puzzle very easily, actually - it's harder to create an easy one.
iprice, congratulations to that great piece of work! I have tested your game just now. And I am really astonished - can't remember to have seen a GLBasic-game in a quality class like this one. It gives me an impression of professionalism because it has sweet gfx, great music and almost perfect control. I really like the overall game design. Very very well done!
There is one thing I have noticed: While I am in a level, the exit button sometimes doesn't seem to act like one so I cannot go back to the main menu. That button then has the same function like the previous-level-button.
There is a bit of an issue with regard to the menu buttons, due to a late addition - I'll fix it in an update. Until then, you can use the ENTER key to return to the start screen, or TAB to return to the Puzzle Select.
Thanks for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated :)
Sounds like "List Of Entries" thread has been turned to "blox playtesting" thread :)
Are posters have not enogh INT&WIS to resist the simple puzzle game?
Well, most other people seem to be very secretive about their projects .....
I'm 50% certain I will have a playable version of my game submitted in time, but I've been wrong half the time and I'm not really sure about that.
I send my wip demo =) Do you received it?
Yes, got it.
UTC midnight tonight is the deadline... what time is that in the UK? Silly question but the clocks go change for summer time soon and I'm not sure exactly what time in the UK I've got to.
Right - mine is in. Good luck everyone!
Thank AndyH - good luck to you too ... and may the best program win :)
CYA !
Finally uploaded the entry. Go to sleep. Sleep... sleeeeeeeeep... zzzzz.
Uploaded my game "Logoball" this morning...only hours before the deadline! :P
Description: Program a bouncing ball to bounce your way across the gameboard to a goal square. The actual gameboard pieces are hidden until you bounce on them once and reveal them. How the ball reacts to each square depends upon how you "program" it, using the arrows at the left of the screen.
Only 25 levels currently...I ran out of time before the contest deadline...

My game "Klaur" is also in. I've made it from scratch just for this competition. Sadly, I couldn't finish everything before the deadline, so in the competition version there are only 8 levels, 3 minigames and no sound or music.
I've uploaded video showing a short gameplay sequence of Level 4.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDY4vVJF91c
If anyone wants to make music, sound effects, levels or additional minigames for Klaur, contact me!
This is a pretty decent game. Please finish it, even after the compo.
Gernot: Thanks for the compliment! :) I already have plans to do so. The next big thing is music and sounds, because without there is no real atmosphere. Then there could be a lot more minigames. During the competition I made a textfile with ~20 minigame concepts. Most of them are not easy to implement, also because I have no real F200 to test more complicated things with the touchscreen.
Another big thing is improving the GP2X performance. In the current version, if you have more than 10 objects (enemies, ...) on the screen it starts to slow down. Luckily I already found the major CPU eaters (enemy logic and object collision), and it doesn't seem too hard to improve the algorithms.
Anyway, I hope I didn't bore anyone with my lengthy report. Back to work and expect a finished game with all the extras in a month or two.
Not a lot of screenshots considering there's a fair amount of entries! Come on people.

Gernot.
I forgot to mention, that my entry contains a level-editor, but when I added the menu-system, I broke the initialise of the editor. I will send you an updated version soon. Please use that :)
(Junp and run game do not profit from the touchscreen. But a level editor do!)

Fingers or claws and much more devices that can be used as stylus is also supported :)
But I had not tested on real f200 :( only windows that halts the game if you missing screen window with virtual stilus. I know that bug doesn't appear on gp2x :D

Were there some announcement that compo met it's deadline? I just can't wait to test these games :)
I was just wondering myself when we could try some of these. :)
I would've released mine more publicly, but I only made it with the demo, so I wasn't able to compile a final version myself.
I've got to fix some tiny, tiny glitches in GLBasic for the competition results. I'll upload them as soon as I find them in perfect condition.
e.g. did someone notice, holding the stylus slows down the gameplay slightly? In XaMMaX's game it causes to just miss the vblank a bit, resulting in a 50% slowdown. I must fix that one, still. Have an idea, might try over the weekend.
SpaceSnake (The Last Acorn series)
so when do we get to play the entries? they all look great

Ow, that's not good. Any results yet? Hope it's not a hardware issue.
Can we share our entries with each other (like B'lox) or should wait for the judges?
Gotta say guys, very impressed with the quality of the entries... well done all!
You can share if you want to. I'll probably upload them next weekend.
Ok, then here is my entry:
http://bazalt.uw.hu/ Easter Quest
It's a jump and run game. It's half-done, and very short, containing only 4-5 levels. But it contains a built-in level editor.
You are encouraged to look into the source and use any part of it if yu like.
Level04b is an extra level, it contains some closed area, where you can collect coins, If you found a secret gate, then you 'teleported' into one of these rooms.(next release)

SHORT MANUAL for the EDITOR:
After you enabled the EDITOR from the MAIN MENU, then a small green box with a '<' character appear in the top-left corner on the gamescreen.
Click here to open the EDITOR MENU.
ED - Editor mode on/off
BD - show boundary lines and codes (toggle)
CO - show mapcodes (toggle)
IN - Switch input mode
GR - Toggle gravity
LO - Load a level
SA - Save current level
EX - Exit to OS
Tap on ED to open the TILESET BAR on the bottom of the screen. You can switch what you want to see here with the IN menu item.
Draw the tile on the screen with the stylus. Double click will pick up the tile (On Win32/Linux right click also work) with all of its attributes or without it (depends from what you choosed with the IN menu item)
In Editor mode (tap on the ED) you neither can't collect coins, get finished the level or get killed.
The SA will SAVE the actual state of the level, so if you collected some coins then these will missing from the saved level too.

wheres the gp2x executable for Easter Quest? donloaded it off your site and didn't see an executable.
it seems is for WIN32 &WIN_CE only
.gpe is over 2 megabyte. Please compile one if needed.
I wanted to ask, the generated gpe contains everything, graphics and sounds? So you have to copy only the thismyproject.gpe to the GP2X?
No. The .GPE file is the GP2X exectuable file only - it still requires all of the media.
Nice game BTW :)
Thank you.
could you or someone else compile it?
Ok! I'll upload it soon.
I uploaded the new rar which includes the .gpe as well. Uploaded to my new website.
http://dobosbence.extra.hu/
navigate in the right WIP->Easter Quest
thanks for posting the download but it doesn't seem to work with the gp2x for some reason.
