Is GLBasic capable of making 3D games for PocketPC/Smartphone?

Hello.
GLBasic is just brilliant. I would like to ask whether it's possible to make 3D games for PocketPC/Smartphone with the current GBasic release? If yes wich 3d/sound formats must be used in order to support 3d skeletal animation/music? Would there be some kind of converter? Will ther be other suupoted mobile/handheld OS in future? And will there be "Beginners Tutorials" in future?

Thank you very much!

Peter.

Hi,

3D is available on PocketPC/SmartPhone. Although you don't have access to features as bump mapping and real time shadows. I should write a 3D demo to have users see what's possible.
If you donwload the SDK, there's a lot of code samples and a tutorial in the manual. Other games can be found in the showroom on the main page.
I'm not planning on implementing other handhelds so far. My next big project will be Mac OS X.
The 3D models (search the forum) can be converted from 3ds, MD2 and .x. Also, there's export filters for Blender and AC3D. GLBasic has a native 3D format (ddd or dda - ascii)

Im interested in this feature but I am new to the Pocket PC/Smartphone market. Is there a market? If so, how large?

Can someone recomend an emulator that covers this O.S.?

Is there anyway to test the PPC 3D functionality without have to purchase the whole SDK?

I will provide a 3D demo version. Stay cool. So long, try playing with the 2D commands in demo version.
There is a smulator from Micrsoft, but it has a bug (fixed in 2nd release - I had contact with the developer) that crashes on GLBasic programs. The best would be to get a iPAQ 3660 or something from ebay. See the speeds of older devices here:

Nice reply Gernot, ty.

I would prefer an emulator as you can increase and decrease the speed to emulate different PDAs and possibly different hardware configurations.

May I suggest you release a full version of you SDK (3d+Network) but limit it to very small programs, say 50 lines? This would allow anyone to check out their specific feature of interest. A seperate, fullyfunctional version for registered users, this would stop hackers?

Currently, for PockPC/Linux users there is no way to evaluate your product, which is a pitty as it got great potential on the platforms.

Hehe, nice Gernot, the latest demo release answers all my questions.
