Interesting tool cheaper for PixelArt (hexels)

HI guys I found this tool, from marmoset creators (marmoset it's a realtime "engine" for watch 3D models like in a 3d viewport but with a lot of quality),
Hexels it's a very cool tool, I think I will buy becuase you can use renders and put like pixels or another shape, and the cost is cheaper 25$...

I go to test and I comment something of my impresions, take a look, becuase launch renders is easy and you can find a lot of free models of any kind.

I saw the gallery, nice artists artworks.

So, is it like blender?

Big learning curve like blender?

Time consuming to make anything decent?

What (2d or 3d) format extensions does it output (specifically glbasic compatible?)?

No hemlos, not is like blender...

Imagine paint tool of Microsoft, is something similar but you don't draw pixels, you draw Hexagons, or shapes definides by yourself, with someeffects, I think for pixel art is insteresting.

I comment "blender" becuase you can make a render (take a photo into de 3d software) and then use this program for make pixel art easily... But really don't works, I have to do more test to get an interesting result using 3D and this soft... I will comment.

But really is interesting for make extrange effects, perhaps for particles or some tails, the program have interesting tools, really is very easy to use.

-About this... don't be fear with Blender really is a very easy soft , I know you use anim8or but believe Blender is powerfull and easy.

Hemlos

I gave up on 3d modeling over the years.
However, Ive been watching tutorials on youtube, about blender.
Ive watched a couple hours so far...i think im in over my head.

yep, blender´s learning curve is a bit hard.

The only 3D modeler I found to be easy to use is Cinem4D.  The problem with it is that it is expensive and export controls aren't that good.

mentalthink

Really not is complex I'm using Blender from begin this year and bit a bit you understand how works, will be an expert in blender is a lot of time but  understand modelling and texturing is easy.

Cinema 4d how said MRT really it's simply brutal and easy , hyper powerfull...  (C4d now in R17 is more expensive this year than the past yaer, anout 300E more)  :-[
Another simply tools are Silo (I read too much people learn with this tool, is cheaper (now they have discount) you can do all about modelling and if you need animate use another tool in the pipeline.

And GLBasic have a good importer from ACD3D soft (I'm not sure if the importer or the forum works with actual releases of ACD3d), I test only a bit and don't seems too much complex but I like more the UI of

erico

sketch up I think is free and very easy to get into.

MrTAToad

AC3D is good - it is a shame it doesn't have the ability to animate things though...

Hemlos

This thread is becoming pretty informative, thank you all for your responses.
These 3d modeller comparisons are useful,
ill be able to make a better choice in the future when the time comes to grab one of these.

yep, but even within commercial packages, animation is something quite without a standard, :(

MrTAToad

Indeed - you just have to hope it works elsewhere.

The Standar now I think is use the FBX -- DAE exporter or another new ( I don't remind the name but is very new).

About animate tool you can use this http://www.fragmosoft.com/ I'm not sure if can export to GLBasic, but I remind I did something and works ( in .X) , but really the interface is a bit complex to understand, really I don't test too much time. I see somevideos on youtube using this soft.  Fragmososft (Is another cheaper tool)

Another tool is DAZ , is similar to Poser but is free 100% and you can animate characters whit libraries, easy to use and professional results, the trick is the shop, you can buy a lot of items, charactes, mosnters, cars complete scenes, and the prices not are too much expensive in the most of cases.

If you donwload perhaps you have to try a couple of times, I never get at the first download.

You have to think in most cases the characters are animated using MOCAP libraries, this files are real people doing things, and this movements are capture and then puts into an Skeleton in 3D, you only have to attach the bones to the mesh (the good point of blender is, he doing this automatically and pratically the 100% of the cases works perfectly)***

Skecthup is another insteresting tool , I see how use it in great studios but for do architecture, really I don't like too much is a bit different of another soft.

Really the soft is important for get good results, but the most important is "who drive the car" when you begin to make 3D all people says Maya is the better all the others are shi... practically today you can do very interesting things with soft of second league (how i call the good and cheaper soft like Silo).

Thanks for you like the post Hemlos , if you need some help or you have some doubt sure Erico or me can help you in the most of doubts (and sure someone more in the forum) , and if MrT or you need some trick or how model something write me, no problem about try to help you in the 3D .

*** Here you have a free library of the MIT...

Another tool is this , this is comercial and you have to pay...

I think a simple animation cost only 1 dollar, and you have a preview.

I comment this because now is free in Steam...

I don't test but sure is powerfull for make characters easily.
