Hi,
since miieditor.com put his site down due to license problems, I have this idea:
Why not create a program that reads a .mii file and creates a 3D model from it (export as 3ds or whatever).
That way, everyone can use Mii data in a game easily.
I also think about a program that then creates 2D animation strips from the .mii data.
So, the 3D models must look very much like the Nintendo's, but be slighty different (license issues)
Which would mean: You load your game, you specify a .mii file (aces!!) and then you control your mii through your game.
Wilth "zero" work for you. Just one call to SHELLEXEC and the new images/3D model is generated, ready to be loaded.
It's not hard to do. It's just a lot of work.
Any volunteers for 3D models of the hair?
You first! :D
Whilst I do like the idea of Miis and am always amazed with what people can create with them, I'd love to have more items and more options with regard to each and to be able to do more with them. Why can't I choose green skin if I want to? Why can't I have ears. Why can't I choose my clothes.
Unfortunately Nintendo have stated that they will never update the Mii creator, so we're stuck with what we've got.
Whilst pc equivilents of Miis do exist, their uses are limited and that's the problem you're going to have with this too Gernot I fear. The idea is sound and fun, but in the real world it will just be too limited. Maybe at best it will be used to create avatars, but like real Miis the effort involved in creating a program and using it will be greater than the practical use of any creations.
But I'm willing to be proved wrong :D
Would you call them Giis? :P
There was a Mii editor available and I missed out?!?! Darn... I've been wondering for ages whether there was a way to get my Mii's onto my PC to show my friends. However I'm not capable of doing what you are talking about otherwise I'd offer to help. Hopefully someone on here is.
Yes, there's editors out there. One had a scren preview and was done in Flash, but Nintendo stopped it.
There's others. Good ones, but no preview. Thus, you "only" need to create the model from the (very simple) .mii file format.
There's other "mii" like thingies for PC? Which ones?

Yes, that one's dead now. :(
OK, how about this one?
It's a simple Mii 3D model, that has different "layers" for face, glasses/mustach, front bears and back-long hair.
Some Mii's have special hairstyles. I'll do that next (if anyone's interested at all)
I included an "Mii-explain.png" that shows you what to paint where in order to change the Mii.
Please play with the Mii.png and tell me what you think about it.
Next step would be to create a program that can read Mii data and produce the Mii.png automatically.

you have a Wii?
NO! And that's the reason why I want the Mii-editor. I like the idea of having your own character in your game.
That's nice :)
Is that an accurate representation of you then Gernot? ;) :P
Yes, obviously :P
No, it was just a test to include as many features as possible there.
OK, I'll start making a .mii to .png thingy then...

I'm pretty far now.
Is anyone willing to help mii?
How can Wii help then Gernot? (Other than 3D modelling)
^^ ....how Wii can help <-------- Thats funny :D
I can help you Gernot, whats next?

Here's what I've archived so far. The ReadMii.txt should bet you the idea and what might be missing.
The hair-images e.g are one thing. (Edit in the "grab" folder, not in the "parts" folder)
