inapp or charge before install ??

Hi,

It might seem a no-brainer but what would be best for a Shootemup  inapp purchase to get beyond a point or charge before they install??

Will that help with piracy issues so inapp purchasing will always be the demo version?

My opinion is that a free app will at least get them trying your game.
Then if they like it, they'll drop some coin to upgrade the game.

There is still stiff competition in the free market, maybe even more than paid these days.
It may still be hard to get your free game noticed.

For a Shootemup game, you have a few in-app purchase options.
- More levels (ha, or unlock 'Mirror Mode' where you flip the level on either axis, simple programming (maybe)!)
- Newer ships/vehicles
- Better weapons (but if too powerful, may make the game boring and too easy)
- Extra lives (permanent as in now you always get 4 lives instead of 3, or 'Get 10 lives for $1 to use at anytime during the game')
- Free version doesn't allow posting hiscores to your server

Will need to consider it carefully...making restriction too small can mean they live with "using" and "not paying".

Try before you buy.
