Not sure about the woodgrain effect, but that's appealing :)
I came. I saw. I played.

Yes, it's nice. I think something metallic might work, too.
Or wet glass (http://wallpaperstock.net/water-drops_wallpapers_6852_1280x1024_1.html )

How about blue instead of orange?

Looking at erico's portfolio, That image he did for the Darkbasic competition is brilliant.
Something like that in the header would really spice things up

My god, that was a long hand draw I did I never though would make anywhere!
Now it gets posted here, brings tears :'(

Yes. Erico's work is really stunning. I never thought I'd met such an artist in my life.
But I guess he's pretty busy. ... or expensive :P

Neither of both, well, actually busy is sometimes correct, since I do work for publicity, sometimes I get full weeks of 14-16h day work (and still get home and work on my own stuff after such), but sometimes I get months off, It's quite unpredictable.

I can help with anything needed for this,
will try to come up with something soon to show up,
can't promise though, it's close to Christmas...

Not to be rude, but all of these designs seem a little "homemade" to me.
There are a lot of good basic themes for most cms'es out there.
Why not get an graphics artist to tweak one of them to suit your needs ? (having one built from scratch would be expensive).
Have a look in communities like http://abduzeedo.com/
There you can find a lot of inspiration and some good templates (if you dont build them from scratch).
Heres a joomla template I built from scratch for an customer http://www.caponemolde.no/
It's totally cluttered by the customer since I delivered it, bad pictures, symmetry distorted ao., but you get an idea. This was also one of my first websites, so my design is far superior nowdays.
I might be able to help in a couple of months, but I am far to busy right now.
Btw. What CMS do the glbasic site use ?

Kitty Hello

It's all my own php code :/

Gernot:  If it is any condolence, I have spent the past three weeks trying to come up with a design for my web site and I still do not have anything remotely decent looking to put online.

The GLB site has always looked fairly good to me, so no matter what you decide upon, I am sure it will look great. :good:

MrTAToad

I think the new design looks very professional.  It just needs to show the top 3 Showcase pictures on the main page...

Ohhh look.  A spam account with pseudo advice. :)

[EDIT] Previous post removed. Ian

Oi, who let you into my post? :)

Not to derail the thread, maybe I'll post this somewhere else but I swear GLB forum has become really hard to access lately.  So many timeouts and failed messages.  I thought maybe it was my link but I haven't had any trouble with the other forums I'm on.

Had no problems here

Ian Price

No problems here either.
I came. I saw. I played.

Moru

No problems for me either, snappier than usual. Could it be the link to europe from australia? Is other european sites slow too?
