Steam can been sometimes behaiver strange. here try to verify your files doing this image says. This should redownload eventuelly broken files. You might need to restart steam and/or windows. Im see this issues sometimes (not just with glbasic, but general, not often but had seen it).

hm.. Steam is installed in 'Program Files' directory, on newer Windows modifying file in that path may require admin rights. Are You running Steam with 'Start/Run as admin'?

or doh. its was newer meant to have that tool to been uploaded to steam as well source directly. this was really happens. Its was more meant as the source should been downloaded from a url instead (there is a Read_Me.pdf for the url, so Gernot does NOT hidden it at all and even included a license and usage for that in all files).

This is 100% by accidently by me and im really so sorry about it.

The reason this happens was after Gernot have updated the official version to 16.507, which was fixed a few other win32 issue. That caused me to to copy anyting for sync, and then also accidently included the source code that was required to been placed there to work correctly. Same with the cppmerge tool.

OOPPS.

Sorry Gernot! But anyway you can still download the source code from the URL, which is that Gernot wanted and im fully respect that (he does update the source to the url). So this was a pure accidently and MrPlow does not need that file anyway, its was a tool to merge all c++ files into one file.

So try again and see its works now. Im guess the folder was write protected, so steam failed to update it. Howover those folder is now removed again, so you should not see extractly that issue.

Try to disable the beta, Manually delete the cppmerge folder, and then verify.

I'd that works then enable beta again.

but its a well known Windows issue. If beta still not working again (after im removed those troublesome folders that was not meant to been exists), try those (first doing Clear Download Cache throught):
