I'd release in a block of 50 -> more updates make the game feel more "active/alive" IMO.

PR is the key and PR cost's money

Pirate Blocx looks very nice, I guess that you'll get more sales if you add more levels....

You mean featured in Apple's Whats Hot etc?

I can assure you that the App store is the most popular but extremely competitive. I've heard that Android is picking up nicely though.
