Android + GLBasic = Wow!
bigsofty:
Well I just recently bought my first Android device, since my iOS dev account renewal ran out I had my eye on a cheap Android tablet.
So I installed the Android dev environment and compiled a few tests with GLBasic.
Wow!, after coming from iOS, Xcode recompilation, shares, no real O.S. access, etc... all working via an unholy bastardised networked PC to Apple computer to iPad symbiosis... arg!, to it just self installing and running directly on the Android tablet is just great. No messing about, compile and run to the USB directly plugged in Android tablet. I can now run my app in a quarter of the time with 1% of the hassle... its went from a pain to a pleasure.
I will be still compiling for iOS, that's where the money is but I will do my main debugging, testing and quick compiling for Android from now on! :good:

WebOS is even easier. I've said it all along - Apple have made it as difficult as possible for the developer.

I agree Ian, TBH I just thought that this was the way mobile development was in general, that is, a total pain in the arse. But after trying this out, I see it does not have to be. Annoying thing was that I avoided mobile development for a while because of this wrong assumption. Its actually a lot of fun.

not quite, they could have chosen APL as their native programming language... :D

Yeah I laughed when I set down to try to see what it would take to get a tester to try out my game on his android phone. I rolled up my sleeves, prepared to lose an entire weekend like when I had to figure out how to get my game on my iphone.
Turns out I just emailed him the .apk, and he just clicked on it.. lol.
