GLB with portable c64?

After some years of hard work, today I finally compiled GLBasic source code to run on a portable C64.
Without SLD and its limitations, it was tough to make everything happens.
There is no 3d and net commands support though, but everything else runs quite fine considering.
I will upload the code changes to Gernot later today. :good:

far higher resolution than C64 had. Im Did a april fool on my facebook profile as Jungool was going to been on C64 as well. Im got few great pictures by Lobo in complete C64 style (and even show correctly in a C64 emulator), then im did have some bit of fun:

Im also have done full Jungool sound track to C64 last year, which is not a april fool. Its was a fun project:

Here is a C64 cover of the Manic Miner The Lost Level cover (An Nintendo DS homebrew game im created music for):

The lastet one im saw was a Warhark cover:

The c64 palette is something that really strikes me as a tough limitation, you know, all those browns.
Still, proper artists can wreck havoc with it in a sense that you don´t even notice.

Checked the music, pretty good, a bit overdrive on the 8bit sounds for me.
"The Perils of Xibalba" and "Jacaranda Sacrifice" are the ones I´m most found of.

C64 has 16 colors. Here two brown colors, while it'd have more gray colors. But those brown was much used through. Im are a c64 man, not Spectrum (not because spectrum is a bad machine now, mostly the 128 which I'm do like).

Those pic is great (not done by me, it's from Lobo, but some of them was for me).

The tunes you heard is all sid tunes, using the newer sid chip (it's should play well on the old one). Im sid not export them to prg files so they could been played on a emulator. They done on sidtracker64 on iPad.

For some reason, the second image makes me remember the second level of Conan on the apple II...(I should go to sleep)

im have not haerd about that much. The level was from iOS versionen, just being a single screen instead scrolling screen. But im can see what you meant. Here you are a rolling ball.

That c64 had more limitations than just 16 colors, You could only use 4 in the same 4x8 square or 8x8 in high-res mode. I never had a c64 but friends did :-)

The wonders artists did with those limitations... aligning features of the images so you don't even notice that it's built up on 4x8 pixel blocks of colour...

Love that portable c64 port, would have been great to have that portable computer on the long bus-rides to school... :-)

Hardware sprites...... yes, its mightbeen limited, but some games used them very well and they can also been multiplexed. Early games, they was quite limited, but they got well used in later games. Best used is of course shoot them up games me thinks.

Sprites can also cover up on charset limits on some pictures, if a cell have more colors than is normally possible.

Also Raster scanline tricks can also do well.
