Title: New Nokia 3310 2017
Post by: mentalthink on 2017-Feb-26
Hi guys I see this new device (I'm not sure if runs with Android), only cost about 50$.
http://www.nokia.com/en_in/phones/nokia-3310

Perhaps can be another platform for GLbasic (I don't know if is Android or not, I can't find nothing about SDK or something similar, but comes with a game of Gameloft then is possible done things).

Parhaps is a good place for us, not too much complex games and a new Market (I think nokia will open something... or not  :'( ).

Only I comment like idea perhaps this device don't sells nothing, I read a couple of cooments and seems the people not are very excited with the product... we will see....

I'm doubt it's possible for glbasic, nor its even android based and might been lower powered CPU and such. Also it's only support g2 networks, which means it's will not work in various countries and Carriers.....

The g2 networks is being closed down.

Would work from assembly or pure java.
I recall working on some nokia projects in Sweden from 1998-2005.
Good times!

I think I did mess with a basic that would spit java stuff for the nokias some time ago too.
Not impressed with this attempt.

so its using the same old software (which should been that way). Its same some sort of Nintendo Classic, just with phone.

Its are means this phone, Nokia hope to get it sold as a second phone.

So no glbasic here, its simply not possible :-). But you could lean Java for those old games :-).

Java works very well quite differernt as glbasic does (yes, im did few Java web games in about 15 years ago).

OS it's not Series 30, but Series 30+, it doesn't support Java (J2ME), here is info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_30%2B (http://wikipedia)
I don't even know if SDK for that platform is publicly available, so I doubt that there would be chance to add this target to GLB.. It would be better to check for Windows Phone 8.1/10 (Angle Project, UWP porting wizard)...
